Israel Accused of War Crimes by Expert Panel

www.smh.com.au

NEW YORK: A United Nations panel of human rights experts has accused Israel of war crimes through wilful killing, unnecessary brutality and torture in its ''clearly unlawful'' assault on a ship attempting to break the blockade of Gaza in May, in which nine Turkish activists died.

The report by three experts appointed by the UN's Human Rights Council described the seizure of MV Mavi Marmara, a Turkish vessel, by Israeli commandos as illegal under international law. Israel swiftly dismissed...

However, the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, hailed the report, saying it ''is extremely unbiased and based on sound evidence … I hope the Israeli side will … from now on act within international law.''

Israel act within international law?

:shk:

Umm, like THAT's ever going to happen? No chance. Israel murdered those activists, plain and simple. And like everything else they do, no one can touch them. Or WILL touch them, is more like it.

Well, it's important to note that these are experts appointed to a human rights panel by the UN. They are supposed to find the facts without any kind of bias. So they did. And Israel is guilty.

What is the point of being guilty when it just doesn't matter?

That is the question for you.

They can be as guilty as they can be, heck they can nuke Iran in to pieces, but who is gonna stop them? You? Last I checked, almost every Veto the US has used, is, and was for Israel

It just doesn't matter, but knowing isn't gonna hurt, it hurts when you know, and also you know nothing can be done about it. That is called terrorism.

The terms "expert panel" and UN are non-sequetor. You could say "a panel of UN anti-semite globalists" or "another lying pack of international theives" or "muslims with free time" but please be more accurate in the future.

Still, it is essential for Israel to maintain possession of the moral high ground. If it loses that, then the cash cow called "The American Taxpayer" turns off the moolah.

Unless, of course, you factor in the "When Armageddon kicks in, the Rapture kicks off" fundamentalist nutbars. Are they still in control?

The 56-page report - compiled by a former UN war crimes prosecutor, Desmond de Silva, a judge from Trinidad, Karl Hudson-Phillips, and a Malaysian women's rights advocate, Mary Shanthi Dairiam - accuses Israeli forces of crimes including violating the right to life, liberty and freedom of expression, and of failing to treat prisoners with humanity.

''The conduct … towards the flotilla passengers was not only disproportionate to the occasion but demonstrated levels of totally unnecessary and incredible violence. It betrayed an unacceptable level of brutality,'' the report said.

Israel, which refused to co-operate with the inquiry, has said its troops resorted to force and opened fire after coming under attack by activists.

PANEL FINDINGS:

* Grave violations of human rights law.
* Clear evidence to support prosecutions for ''wilful killing'' and ''torture''.
* IDF used ''totally unnecessary and incredible violence''.
* Blockade of Gaza is ''illegal''.
* Israel dismissed the report as ''one-sided'' and ''extremist''.

When it comes to Israel being guilty, it doesn't matter WHO they pick to try and assess the blame. People like you will always play the anti-semite card. Yawn.

Do you ever weigh the advantages of doing a little homework before that knee jerks on you?

Israel is guilty for many other things as well. But regardless of what any international panel say, they just continue on tracks until hopefully they will be banned both economically and politically, invaded like Iraq, their nuclear weapons confesticated and Zionist regime put in jail.

Israel have been accused many many times in UN - US and few other proxy countries vetoing all the resolutions made against Israel.

They seem to be pretty much unstopable. Even most people around the world agrees that they are most sinister terrorist regime around, yet they continue ever strong.

So tell me, what should be the makeup of an "unbiased" panel to assess Israeli actions???
