Pakistani scientist sentenced to 86 years in US prison

NEW YORK (AFP) - A New York court Thursday sentenced a US-educated Pakistani scientist to 86 years in prison for attempted murder of US officers in Afghanistan, in a high-profile case sparking outrage in Pakistan.

Aafia Siddiqui, 38, a neuroscientist who trained at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brandeis University, was found guilty in February of trying to kill American servicemen in Afghanistan.

"It is my judgment that Dr Siddiqui is sentenced to a period of incarceration of 86 years," Judge Richard Berman said in the federal court.

I have personally seen this case happened over the years with so many allegations against the US from Afia herself to humantarianism towards the torture she allegadly suffered. I believe this is a outrage as being so well educated, she would not take these steps, especially with no forensic evidence, this case is based on total eyewitness accounts, that should not be enough to put someone behind bars for over 80 years or I would say life.

Discuss.

Yeah...

The fact that they didn't "bother" to fingerprint the rifle, or check her for gunpowder residue is highly suspect. This stinks of alphabet agencies and agendas to me.

There's a lot of good info here on her Wiki page.

She's definitely been caught up in the whole rendition thing for years.

Evidence? What the hell gives the US the right to arrest, detain and sentence enemy combatants to jail time in the American homeland? This is war, yet Americans still have the sense that they must play world police.

The Americans are in the Middle East in active combat. The CIA founded and still supports the ISI, which sends terrorists to attack India all the time because peace between India and Pakistan would have bad implications for American policy there. This person did not suddenly wake up one day with a dream to kill Americans; this is a direct result of American action in the region.

Oh sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought you said something different. Yes, I do agree to that, but still have to understand the victims "terrorists" side here and the fact there was no forensic evidence involved.
