Alot of people will think this is bad news, but bear with me for a second.

This could, thank god, be the dealbreaker that finally gets us the f*** out of the U.N. once and for all, and send those pinko, self-important, openly antisemetic, callowed s**t monkeys packing. They could move it to Beijing for all I could care.

It may be wishful thinking, but lets keep our fingers crossed.

Get the US out of the UN, and get the UN the hell out of the US!

Much to your dismay (as well as most of the U.N.'s, especially the garbage
sitting at the head of that self perpetuating joke of a human rights council), freedom of speech and expression of opinion are still allowed in this country. I'll post what I like, when I like, about what I like (staying within the guidelines set by the B.B. moderators of course) not concerning myself in the slightest about the feelings you or anyone else who shares your appeasement oriented sense of logic.

People want to criticize us ad-nauseum about Abu Gharib, Guantamo and whatever else seems bug them about Americas decision to get rid of Saddam are more than welcome to do it. But its almost impossible for me to take any of said criticism seriously when the same fruitcakes dealing out the criticism totally turn a blind eye to the real monsters. You know, the ones that are kidnapping non-combatants and cutting their heads off for the whole world to see, as well as the warped Islamo-Fascist trash thats dancing in the streets about it. As far as 90% of the U.N. is concerned, they are always the poor hapless victims, despite the tons of evidence to the contrary.

And by the way, there is nothing "biased" about reciprocating hostility, and nothing more biased on this earth than the U.N.

Yep every dictators dream, hell what country wouldn't like to be free of UN scrutiny.

i do area that the UN is biased and full of corruption but pulling out doesn't help matters, we've got to help cut out the evil at the heart which admittingly is a lot easier said than done.

When ever I hear people complain about the UN, expecially Americans, it's always vauge, general comments and American egocentism and arogance.
It always seems to me they feel as if it brings them down from the pedestal they want to or think they are on. Helping others, ick, thats what charity is for. Help fight world hunger, I'm fed, fat and happy. Who cares about landmines, when was the last time I or someone I know stepped on one. Vaccination for kids, it's their own fault for being sick.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt, what was he thinking when he thought America should be a good neighbour?

Why not push for improvement instead of abandonment?

america does give billions in charity and our citizens give just as much, our military is planning on stopping using mines very soon and now we're dropping this and you say that above?

we havent abandoned the world, the world could be worse you know, its not all our fault, the people in every country are responsible for what goes on too and other things we cant control contribute to world conditions also, dont point the finger at others, no one nation is solely responsible for what happens everywhere.

maybe americans and our government do what we do and say what we do because we have our own lives to worry about and struggle llike everyone else yet we're held to some higher standarn and expected to do more and make no mistakes, we're not perfect and we really rather be left alone and be happy, why should the world judge us, it only creates division on both sides and makes americans want to actually abandon and ignore the world.

The UN is Un-American. The UN is a direct opponent of American sovereignty. I say get them out.

The UN is a token organization anyway. In a Utopian world, the UN would be a great place for everyone to sit around and talk about their feelings, but this is not a Utopian world.

About the good neighbor idea, I think the US gives TOO MUCH to the rest of the world. People hate America until their big American paycheck comes in the mail. If other countries hate us so much, they should refuse our money on principal, if they have any principals left.

Also, dig around and see what the UN "Peace Keeping" forces are up to. Last I heard, they were trading food for sex to underage refugees and intimidating REAL humanitarian organizations into keeping it a secret. No thanks.

Are you sure about that?

the administration of President George W. Bush said it would not sign the treaty, that it would push back the date to eliminate some mines to 2010, and would retain the right to use other "smart" mines indefinitely.

Here's a list of countries that have not signed the ban on landmines:
