Microsoft has been awarded a patent for using human skin as a power conduit and data bus.

Ok, so now MS owns our skin.

Wonder if new parents are going to get sued for not licensing the baby's skin from MS.

Ya know, that is about the same as saying that wireless network providers own the sky.

The problem is that if they don't patent it, and some other company does, then they might have to pay out later, when for the cost of a patent they could charge others to use the concept.

Microsoft file between 500 and 4000 patents a week. This is common for the large players.

I wouldnt say Micro$oft owns us, but they own or are a large controller in just about every technology field you can imagine. Actually the patent is for _how_ they can use human skin, not the actual skin itself. Its pretty amazing that they file so many patents, one has to wonder if they ever will get slapped down by the government for actually becoming too large?

Yes I know this. If you read the article. At the end it shows other patents they have just been awarded. Soon We wont be able to do anything with out having to pay M$ if it keeps going like this.

With this patent, at the extreme, they might interpet it to apply to your hearr for heart monitors, think about it.

Notta chance in hell that MS will be slapped down by the Gov't for anything, alternate heaven. Don't forget that Bill's the richest man in the world. And I read here that Bill & Melinda Gates will be participants in the Bilderberg meeting this year.

A well-used bon mot regarding Microsoft -

"Resistance is futile. You WILL be assimilated."

Human skin as a power conduit ? - thats a good idea ... I could stuff a bulb up Tony Blair's arse and use him as a lampstand

Sweet, I'm going to go pirate some skin. I'm actually a little more worried that Microsoft has patented the double-click. Kinda reminds me of when Wizards of the Coast patented the "Tap" process in Magic: The Gathering.

Remember, the US Government will never allow Microsoft to become more powerful than itself.

Well, I've heard some conspiracy theorists saying that Microsoft & the U.S. Gov't work hand in hand, Just1Man!

500 to 4000 patents a week filed by MS - & you say that's common practice for the major players, Zzub? I feel my paranoia getting out of control now. Skin? what next?

While im not a big fan of M$, i find this quite a good idea. i especially like the fact that you'd be able to exchange electronic business cards through a hand shake. the only concern i have about this technology is wether there are any long or short term side effects.
Also by touching your palm/wrist as if you were using a keyboard although pretty handy would also make you look like a crazy person.

Yes but knowing Microsoft they will put a back door in the program to our skin and then have their hackers go in and take our skin over.

And just think about how you would upgrade.

I would say that up to a point MS was very closely aligned with the US goverment, at least in the small to medium size servers and desktop systems. Large scale servers still are primarily a Unix dominated area, as is the large clusters systems such as those in Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories. Considering the market share that Microsoft has in the desktop field, I would say its completely in the realm of possiblity that they have included various backdoors into their desktop OS'es at the behest of the US goverment, and if thats not the case it surely will be in a post 9/11 world where a little security is more important than little privacy.

This says it all:
www.cnn.com...

Or then someone has perverse imagination in Microsoft.

Same with Finland's biggest ISP:
It's e-mail servers where malfunctioning whole last year, mails didn't go anywhere, they were send forward after month, same for incoming mails.
They blamed viruses about problems, but sametime even smaller providers had mail-systems working fully.
Then in winter some started getting notices to their mail-boxes... notice's content was that [email protected] mail-box was full!
They said that it was their mail-system testing account, but considering other incidents around company... something stinks there definitely.
(and before that Finland's prime minister of time had promised full support for Bush's "war games")
