On the Advice of the FBI, Cartoonist Molly Norris Disappears From View

www.seattleweekly.com

You may have noticed that Molly Norris' comic is not in the paper this week. That's because there is no more Molly.

The gifted artist is alive and well, thankfully. But on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, "going ghost": moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity.
...
It's all because of the appalling fatwa issued against her this summer, following her infamous "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" cartoon.

Don't criticize the "religion of peace" I guess.

There's probably a reason why, for example, you can make a movie like DaVinci Code; but a movie will never be made of The Last Patriot. Goons try and saw your head off in the name of Jesus.

Sad as it is ... but it's true. And this wasn't even a movie! It's a drawing, for Christ's sake. (And I can say "for Christ's sake" without fear of repercussion, too.)

For those unfamiliar with what Draw Mohammad Day was about, this is from a Time article (linked up under "Additional News Links"):

In creating the Internet meme, Norris was protesting death threats made against the creators of the raunchy Comedy Central show South Park, which had aired an episode starring Muhammad obscured by a black box with the word censored. It was the third time that the show's creators had included the Prophet in their story line (the second was banned from airing).

Is this really that dangerous? Even in a western country?

I mean the South Park boys are still alive. Surely Muslims would be after those guys by now? I'd be interested to see if the South Park boys have had any actual scares or serious attempts at violence over the years.

Sorry I saw you addressing some group of people in a rather derogatory manner, immediately knew that you could not be talking to me and nodded off. Try again. Maybe using different, more interesting words.

just had to quote the wording before it was fixed. "I want all the libtards will wake up"

edit on 9/15/10 by evil incarnate because: add quote

'libtards'?

and assisting in the takeover for what/whom?

and how does it relate to the Topic? Is the FBI the 'libtards'? Or the few random 'extremist' muslims who threaten people who draw pictures. are they these libtards you are referring to?

Don't criticize the "religion of peace" I guess.

Actually it is more like:
Don't F around with the "bad guys". Muslims have bad guys, just like Christians, just like Jews, just like Atheists, heck even American soldiers, Americans, even the profession of doctor-ism got bad guys here and there.

Don't F around for attention with the wrong people. That is something I have learned the hard way, the Westerners also will learn the hard way lol...

When you insult someone where it hurts, and those people are the "bad guys", they will come and get revenge, you hurt them psychologically, and they will hurt you physically, most likely kill you.

Don't blame a religion for it, because even normal American gangsters would kick your headin if you say something really insulting. So it is you having a big mouth which is the problem, or having disgusting/insulting thoughts drawn on paper that is the problem, you are the source, they are the effect

"you need people like me, so you can point your F fingers and say [pause], that's the bad guy.. So what that make you?, Good?"

Have we sunk back to the past where the very ability to speak without fear has come back to haunt us? Is it so wrong to speak out against a group or an individual without fear of the threat of violence against us? This is getting serious and starting to affect everyone in the country and around the world, where a few malcontents start to dictate the actions of a majority and the majority step back in fear. Freedom is neither free and often comes at a price, and the actions of a few give the whole a bad name.
It is a sad day when the very freedom that we hold dearly has been threatened by a few, cause they find something offensive, to the point of threatening violence, backed by different governments in the process. They cry foul, but in the process, they have done far worse than what was originally posted. They claim religious intolerance, yet those in the country that this happened, did not stand up to back the rights of those who were doing such, rather in their silence, backed the actions of the extremist. They are, by virtue of the fact that they are citizens, equally compliant for those death threats, and the erosion of the freedom of speech. The Islamic community, fails to realise that in the long run, when things start heating up, will have no one to blame when none will support them, but themselves, because they choose not to take a stand.
It is always easy to take a stand when it is something you agree with and the true test of the freedoms and rights guaranteed under the law is when a person has to stand up to protect those same rights and freedoms for people they do not agree with. Anything else is just hypocracy and an unequal in the eyes of the law. This is not religious bigorty or a phobia, it is the truth and common sense of the matter. Many people in the country would be more willing to stand up for a person who is willing to make that sacrifice in the name of equal justice and liberty for all, than one group.
A message must be sent around the world, and one that not only stands out, but also states something to make people stand up and stop in thought. We must send a message to the world, that we will no longer fear the dark, we will not go into the dark quietly, and no matter the threats that may be given, for every person that you kill, there will be 10 more to take that persons place. We no longer fear you or your message, we will not go away, and if you can't deal with it, then feel free to stay in your own country. If however, you choose to accept that we do have laws and rights, that those same right that protect our people also allow for those who are similar to you to stand up and do the exact same thing, if you choose to peacefully live, then and only then, will we listen and consider what you have to say.

They were largely censored by their network. The cartoons were either toned down or never aired. Interestingly, they deliberately did some blasphemous bit with the Blessed Mother, and that was all good.

The Mother of Jesus menstruating all over South Park characters is ok. So much as even hinting at the founder the so-called religion of peace is bad. Lesson learned.

On the other hand, maybe the FBI scared her unnecessarily?

Obviously they don't have any real problems if this bothers them. What a primitive and narcissistic culture.

Wow. So that's all I have to do to get the FBI to give me a completely different identity?

Well, well, well...

Just make sure you offend the proper religious group; and then, ya, you get a new I.D.

If it is the religion that wants to give years of prison and 40 lashes to schoolteacher who allowed a class of 7-year-olds to name a teddy bear Muhammad, you probably have the right religion. Draw some pictures of a fuse coming outta the Great Prophet's beard, or whatever, and encourage others to do the same ... you could get yourself a new name and social security number and everything!

Or you get yourself a car bomb, or your head sawed off by agents of the religion of peace.

Nope sorry, she is funding her own disapperance..... from the OP's source

She is, in effect, being put into a witness-protection program—except, as she notes, without the government picking up the tab. It's all because of the appalling fatwa issued against her this summer, following her infamous "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" cartoon.

Stated plainly in the first paragraph of the article.
