The crucifixion was a hoax ?

I heard that the crucifixion was a hoax and that the religious Jesus wasn�t the one who died on the cross but it was someone posing as him. I just want to know if anyone out there has any information on this. I already know that a lot of you are flaming mad about this but I�m just curious as to where this story came from that�s all. No disrespect intended.

The denials of the truth started that morning, but the guards knew what they saw and it scared the heck out of them. But this was bad news for both the empire as well as the religious leaders placed into power by the Romans. Christ was observed for days afterward before He went to Heaven. Thomas even touched the hands that had been pierced by the nails. He was the skeptic, and even he was convinced.

Not so much a hoax but potentially a case of two people with the same title. I'm using the book The Hiram Key as my source, which has been criticised on masonic sites for being two fanciful. However it puts forward a theory that on the day of the crucifixion both Jesus and his brother James were on trial. Now Jesus was not his name, it was a title meaning saviour and because of James's actions he too could have been given the title of jesus.

You may remember from school that there was someone called Barabbas due to be crucified as well. The authors broke down that name and found that Bar means 'son of' and Abba means 'The Father' (god), so literally 'the son of god'. This individual was released when the crowd made it's choice over who could walk free that day. The authors suspected that it was in fact James who was freed, but a muslim friend of mine told me that many muslims have been taught that the Jesus we usually refer to did not die on the cross

What should assure you it was real is the fact that it occured just as prophesied, as well as did the rest of Christ's life. That was the job of the prophesies, to make it known to you to be true

I wanted to add that "Christ" was the title that referred to the Messiah or savior God promised to send. People asked Jesus if he was "the Christ". Also, the records we have were written by people who were very close to Jesus and saw him crucified. They would have known if it wasn�t him. In several spots they said they were eyewitnesses to his life, death, and resurrection. In some places they even appealed to the audience as eyewitnesses. Please take careful note of this passage from Acts 2 [NIV]. Three thousand in the croud knew it was the same Jesus:

Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. David said about him:
" 'I saw the Lord always before me.
Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will live in hope,
because you will not abandon me to the grave,
nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence.'
"Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,
" 'The Lord said to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet." '
"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call."
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Christ died for us.

there is no way that the crusifixion was a hoax. there is proof of it now and they are finding more and more proof. they have historical events that lead back to him dying. they found a tombstone saying jesus son of joseph brother of paul. it is all coming true. the bible times are very real.

evidence that it was Jesus' brother James that died on the cross... There was a good thread on this earlier...

I read a verse in the quran that said the likeness of another man was on the cross. I will post it when I find it. I don't know how to take it though

Jesus' "grave" was in Joseph of Aramethia's lands... I've always thought the same "trick" was used here as was used in the "resurrection" of Lazarus... Oddly, the Bible in most places, especially in revelations...refers to Jesus as the first one brought back from the dead...and often fails to reference Lazarus....
