US Church Cancels Quran Burning

www.voanews.com

The leader of a small U.S. Christian church says he has called off his plan to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday.

The Reverand Terry Jones said Thursday he called off his protest because he had reached an agreement with Muslim leaders to move the controversial location of a planned Islamic cultural center and mosque in New York. He said the mosque would be moved away from the site of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

I just saw this as breaking news, and wanted to know what you all thought. In my opinion, the preacher did what the mosque builders should do: try to find PEACE at all costs. The cost of freedom has been paid with the blood of TOO many people, now we must have an open discourse to prove that America is what it once was: Land of the Free and Home of the Brave!

There is no deal, the good reverend was lying out of his arse.

it was immediately shown there was no such agreement.

He wont burn it though...and I suspect I know exactly why...

The FBI simply said "We are not going to protect you should you do it..good luck"...which means, yep..good luck dealing with insane fanatics coming to decapitate you. The Pastor is now seeing just what sort of bee's nest he swatted.

Meh. The preacher just doesn't have faith in his god to protect him from the evil he was planning to do. My opinion, of course. That, and he's had his time in the spotlight, now he can sell more books.
