"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."

Just had a thought about this.

What if the understanding is: The image of God is the universe, and humans was created in it.

And if the entire universe is the image of God so must we be.

A rock, a plant, an animal and humans are all images of God. Different 'aspects', if you will, of God.

“God sleeps in the rock,
dreams in the plant,
stirs in the animal,
and awakens in man.”

Very nice. I also believe that God is everything. We are all a part of God.

I see God when I look at ancient wise trees, when I look into another's eyes, when I see the waves crashing against the lava rocks...

I'm glad you understand this.

You can twist the bible many ways...

We are the image of God.

God says to worship him..

So we should worship our fellow man...

Wouldn't that be nice, peace on earth

Its funny how people think since God is talking about a image, We imagine it as if God is looking in a mirror.

Well A can't create A. So we sure ain't a physical image of God.

The most peculiar thing about us humans is not our human shape. But our human awareness.

The Image of God is not God in and of itself. It's the image

The connection to, anything really, is consciousness.

Scratchmane,

First, God is Spirit and is invisible to us. All things before what we read was creation were invisible, the creation we read of was put together from things unseen. The angels good and evil are invisible to us and yes they can manifest a visible appearance to us. The main part of us is Spirit, the body is it's dwelling place. The Spirit of God can and will dwell in us if we let Him. We have a conscience of our own cobbling. But our best guide is the indwelling Spirit of God. Most have not learned to hear It's still small voice. The invisible creations age cannot be determined as it was from everlasting and this is what stymies man in his reasoning of earths age. There will be a time when our eyes will be opened and we will behold God at either the first resurrection or the second. We are now seeing things people call ufo's and aliens. We are going to see a lot more of this as the evil takes over mankind more and more completly. Our safe path is revealed from His, God's Word. His Word is truth, the foundation of Truth. I could go on and on with things to consider but I can not prove anything to you, only His Spirit as you read His Word can do that. His Word is Spirit and the fountain of Truth. He declares, I Am The Way The Truth and the Life. Life, well they said many years ago we will be able to create life from scratch in two years, well don't hold your breath, it hasn't happened yet and it won't. Life only can comes from God. Also let them create their own scratch like Yahweh has. I just hand out this reasoning and hope it helps someone.

The old Greek translation of the Old Testament, which arguably the creators of had access to primary documents we no longer have, uses the word, eicon, where we get, through the Latin use of it, the word icon, which can best be understood as meaning likeness. So it can be debated in what way was created people similar to the Elohim, but it does not necessarily have to mean just in appearance, especially if God is invisible, which seems the most likely to me.

It is more like you are taking a photograph of yourself and you print it out on the paper. You see your image on the paper. Is the paper you? No. It is just an image of you.

God created man after his own image. Is God you? No. You are just an image.
