The old Greek translation of the Old Testament, which arguably the creators of had access to primary documents we no longer have, uses the word,
eicon, where we get, through the Latin use of it, the word icon, which can best be understood as meaning likeness. So it can be debated in what way
was created people similar to the Elohim, but it does not necessarily have to mean just in appearance, especially if God is invisible, which seems the
most likely to me.
