The Swedish police had raided the premises of the host PRQ of Sweden in Solna in Sweden. This "host activist, who advocates a radical conception of freedom of expression including the servers hosting the download site The Pirate Bay or sites advocating pedophilia. It is also the host of Wikileaks, the site specializes in the publication of confidential documents made public this summer tens of thousands of reports of U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

---------------

The raid was towards the website ThePirateBay, and not Wikileaks, so they say.
I'll be looking out for more information on this, and keep this updated.

Did not see a thread on this matter, if there is please delete.

-Thanks.

Boy they must be nervous that they send the police after the web host, instead of Wikileaks. Thanks for the information.

Ah, so Sweden hasn't got free press, as some may claim.

According to this article, then the Swedish police clearly can legally raid a premesis, if they've got a ''hunch''.

Just heard it through internet chatter

Nothing has been seized, according to Swedish radio news. Raid ordered by Belgium police, in hunt of scene top sites.

Surely there must be other hosts Wikileaks could use, that doesn’t promote paedophilia?
Not a good association (to say the least) given its founder is being accused of rape
www.bbc.co.uk...

Not saying he isn’t being smeared. But I am saying that if you use a server openly involved in evil crimes, then a sensitive website can hardly be surprised if some of that dirt is used to make them insecure. Dumb asses, indeed!!!

Just found this article. Apparently the ISP for Wikileaks and PirateBay deny that they have been raided by the police.

Swedish Internet service provider PRQ, which hosts WikiLeaks, has denied reports that it has been raided by Swedish police in connection with the whistle-blowing site. Company director Mikael Viborg this morning told Sweden's P3 News (in Swedish) that the police had left PRQ's premises in Solna after the company "raised some questions about two IP numbers". The company, which was raided by Swedish police in 2006 investigating the company's hosting of torrent tracker The Pirate Bay, said that no seizures had been made.

@ Liberal1984, I thought the same thing. Not sure why they'd choose that ISP, seeing as they have been under investigation for some years now aswell.

Police have arrested 10 people in a series of raids across Europe designed to crack down on file-sharing.

Police targeted 48 sites in countries including Britain, the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Hungary. Five of the arrests were in Belgium and the others were made in Norway and Sweden. The suspects are the alleged leaders of four illegal file-sharing networks and they have been charged with hacking, piracy and computer fraud. In Sweden, seven premises were raided including PRQ, which is believed to host Pirate Bay and whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks. Police made clear that the raids were unconnected to WikiLeaks. Co-ordinated by Belgian police, the operation was the culmination of a two-year investigation.

BBC News Thanks for the link alienesque

So the raids did happen. But they were towards illegal file-sharing sites, and not towards Wikileaks. They may say it was not, but I have a hunch it was.
