That was my hit too, that they are in place for major evacuations which are certain in the next 2 years. They are not really something to keep freaked out speeders from reading a traffic accident, or to warn people when inclement weather on roadways should be observed, no these are just another sign big brother is continuing those terrific bailouts to their friends and allies.

At 14, 000 a piece that is just the 'official' amount they give, sort of like keeping the con job ongoing without raising the fur on the hides of the voters.

I believe these road restrictions will become apparent as time goes on, and as people from the day of liberty die off, enabling the world to end as we knew it. Really-----I have lived outside of Milwaukee for the past 25 years and you are so full of it. This is about one thing SNOW and being able to close the roads when the big storms come. We get about 4 a year of over 12 inches.



A couple of years ago 100s of cars south of Madison become trapped in heavy snow the national guard had to get them out.


What makes more sense a grand government plan to stop travel or SNOW. To bad sense is in short supply these days.

They have these all over northern Japan. Much bigger, too, at last on major roads - full on steel gates with flashing lights and stop signs. They tend to be positioned close to alternate routes.

I have seen a couple of them closed. Heavy snow, freezing rain, avalanches, rockslides and major accidents are the usual reasons. On a couple of (very) rural roads, I have ventured beyond the gates, usually to find that the road has been completely obliterated by a landslide. Turns out the gate was there to keep me from driving my car off a cliff where the road used to be. Who knew?

Every once in a while, believe it or not, governments DO occasionally do something useful and without ulterior motive.

I swear, if the government put out a law making it illegal to drink bleach, some of you would be doing shots of clorox just to prove how "free" you are.

The whole country is going broke, and yet there is money to waste on at-best redundant elements of the control infrastructure...why is that, I wonder?

I travel WI highways every day and I've never seen these in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, or Ozaukee counties, e.g. Metro Milwaukee.

Where are these supposed to be?

Hey, I just drove past that offramp in the video early today. They are on almost every on and off ramp on highway 41. I've really never paid attention to them, and I've seen them be used when there is a serious car accident, flooding, or for traffic control in that area. It's used most often in that area I believe is for the traffic control in Oshkosh, as they hold event such as EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Flight shows, which attract many people in every year, along with one of Americas largest country music festival Country USA.

Sorry, but I doubt there will be any large evacuations, unless there is an overload of methane from all of the cow "pies" around.

oh wow. really off topic, but i love those things. me and a few buddies of mine recently went on a road trip and every hill we found, we took out the big wheels and saw how fast we could go. i made it to almost 30 mph on one of the bigger hills! there isnt many things funnier than seeing a grown man speed by you on a bigwheels
