Many of the worlds most popular paintings such as the Mona Lisa are distributed falseley. The speical touches added to paintings done by the artest Leonardo Da Vinci have been tampored with to hide the unique and secretive resembolances.
You may read some about various things like so in "The Da Vinci Code", a fictional collection of facts, as oxymoronic as it may sound.

I read the DaVinci Code, I'd be interested to see if any of the clues are true. You might want to use the search function, there are many topics on this. -Muzz

Other than taking your comments from a book of fiction, do you have any real proof of this? I ask, because as an artist I can see Leonardo had a very distinctive style. Now, admittedly, I don't study everything in microscopic detail, but there's no real evidence that I can see of retouching that hides things.

Some of the old masters did reuse canvases, by the way. They're very expensive and if your patron was paying you for something ... but wasn't paying a LOT, then you would reuse canvasses.
