Things like this most likely happen everyday but they never get coverage because it's dealing with a positive..... Sometimes it feels like getting a little prize for sifting through all the rest of the garbage we have to hear about all day lol...

you know what's really sad?

A thread about SCREW THOSE MUSLIMS gets like 50 flags, 240 bajillion stars, from a whole bunch of Muslim haters, or a bunch of Christian haters.


But a thread that shows the actual influence Christ *can* have on people, and how 2 religions can come together despite all the vitriol in this country today.... gets ignored and essentially nothing.

I guess that shows the general level of stupidity here on ATS these days, no?

The majority of it's members are only after juicy gossip, like a bunch of hens in a sewing circle.

An even sadder thing is that this kind of thing (the good) is probably far, far more prevalent. It just, as you said, isn't juicy.

See, my experience is that the people most tired of the "Christians" misrepresenting what Christianity is all about are the non-Christians. Many of us were Christian to begin with and were driven away by the hypocricy and hate. Logic and reason came later.

I am a Christian, and I hate all the Muslim-bashing bull#. That is not what Christ taught us, but sadly too many so-called Christians seem to think anyone unlike them must be evil.

I'm an atheist, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the coming together of people, regardless of faith.

I just think they're doing this out of their human kindness, as opposed to Jesus's kindness

lots of Churches have muslim outreach programs, this is nothing new...
but I never get tired of the Christian bashing.... It makes me laugh

I think it's a beautiful thing to see people not only respecting each others' religious beliefs, but giving aid to each other.

This is a beautiful thing. NO ignorance IGNORANCE DENIED lol. It is nice to see the Christians of Memphis treating their fellow Muslim brotheren with compassion. Asking WHAT WOULD JESUS DO WAS A GOOD QUESTION, and the Pastor got his answer. Humanity as I always say has many worthy and some who are self centered. Eventually the worthy will be rewarded for their deeds and the selfish I wouldnt worry about too much their ways will cause their ends.. Nice find OP S&F.

Not all mosques are the same. Not all sects of religions are the same. not all Imams are the same. These are clearly devout people in good relationship with their community. The Imam for the NYC one refuses to speak on violent events under the excuse that it is political, not violent. It is the responsibility of the Imam to renounce all events. You can't just say you renounce all violence and then refuse to comment are specific locations and events. That means you have agenda. And believe me I've seen such agenda in all religious groups.

It is nice to see them opening their doors. But that's just because they want to look like the best of humanity. At the end of the day, acting like the best of humanity is what all religions ask of you, they just go about it in their own defined terms. I simply view the NYC mosque as a wolf in sheep's clothing. These people are clearly not the same.

I was going to post something very similar to this when I saw this thread had 26 flags and only two pages of replies. Very disappointing.

I guess us racist redneck aren't all racist rednecks after all! I live about an hour away from memphis myself and there is a Islamic Center here where i live and guess what? No one has tried to burn it down! WOW!
