I chose allow, simply because there are worse things out there, that are proven to be worse and are still being sold in retail stores.

Also for the fact that I pay taxes. I don't want to pay taxes to keep marijuana offenders in jail (I've never heard of a pot smoking hippy committing an aggravated assault). Its sad that America has more people imprisoned then any other country in the world. Teenagers are arrested because they are smoking a herb that has been on Earth since the existence of the human kind. Its an herb that almost everyone has tried, and if you haven't tried it, I can bet a truck load of money that someone very close to you has or still does smoke marijuana, whether you are aware of it or not.

But when the money used to buy the marijuana ends up in the hands of Mexican drug cartels, who pose an immediate threat to the American way of life on the boarder, I get a little worried. So should we legalize marijuana so we can grow, harvest, and sell it ourselves and keep the money flow out of the hands of gangsters? My answer is most definitely yes.

I thought I'd chime in that it's no surprise that anything so vital in nutrients would strike such dissonance amongst the multitudes. Power of media programming, obviously. To those that called it a 'drug'~I dispute the classification altogether. I aver that it is more of a life prolonging natural vitamin, or food. I won't compare such a thing to liquid solvents or substances that literally erode the organs with regular usage, therefore.

But always there are those who make it seem stupid, or even pornographic, somehow.

I thought of this legal argument and I am going to post it in several of these threads to get the idea out there.

If it took a Constitutional Amendment to ban alcohol, it would take a Constitutional Amendment to ban any substance. Period.

Discussion here on this argument-Simple question about the prohibition amendment to the Constitution

i agree, i don't see why marijuana is legislated differently. if drug manufacturers are allowed to flood our streets with dangerous prescription drugs then why can't marijuana also be distributed in a controlled and safe environment?
