Dont forget to disinfect each projectile before firing. Wouldnt want a secondary infection to rot the targets head off.

Im not saying it isnt a problem at all. It just isnt the only problem. I agree that it is yet another reason to stop using lead for bullets.

And to BingeBob or whatever your name is. We likely will stop using lead in the other areas you mention someday too. Just like we stopped using lead for paint and gas.

And I dont have a problem with lead on my house. But we have had problems with lead and wildlife in NM.

Lead from a spent round of ammo isn't going to hurt anyone, regardless of where you're at. The EPA obviously just went full retard.

Actually, it's a back-channel way of controlling guns. You know, make ammo expensive, because that way, criminals won't get any.

What if we replaced the lead bullets with oxyclean pellets? Then we could leave the area even cleaner than when we found it after we got done killing everyone in sight!

They say that a piece of lead the size of a grain of sand ingested per day is enough to start stockpiling in children.

So, watch your kids and dont let them eat metal off the ground. And since the average of normal adults is less than 10ug/dl is much lower than 25-40ug/dl (elevated, not yet considered dangerous but warrants behavior change) then i would say that the AVERAGE ADULT IS SAFE FROM THIS MANUFACTURED DILEMA

Its because I replied to a different poster, with the reply button, and was relying on memory to type your name in, not looking at your name. I wasnt sure I was remembering it correctly.

Why is it there is always a double standard for these so called environmentalist?

They decry lead used in bullets and sinkers, but get Congress to mandate a total switch to mercury filled CFL bulbs.

I don't know if it is there hate of guns, or of humans as predators.

What are they going to replace the lead with.

Steel that would make them armor piercing ammo that has already been banned in many states.

Solid copper is just as bad as many class 2 and 3 vest will not stop solid copper bullets.

Steve Owens, EPA assistant administrator for the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, issued the following statement on the agency’s decision:

“EPA today denied a petition submitted by several outside groups for the agency to implement a ban on the production and distribution of lead hunting ammunition. EPA reached this decision because the agency does not have the legal authority to regulate this type of product under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) – nor is the agency seeking such authority.

“This petition, which was submitted to EPA at the beginning of this month, is one of hundreds of petitions submitted to EPA by outside groups each year. This petition was filed under TSCA, which requires the agency to review and respond within 90 days.

“EPA is taking action on many fronts to address major sources of lead in our society, such as eliminating childhood exposures to lead; however, EPA was not and is not considering taking action on whether the lead content in hunting ammunition poses an undue threat to wildlife.

“As there are no similar jurisdictional issues relating to the agency's authority over fishing sinkers, EPA – as required by law – will continue formally reviewing a second part the petition related to lead fishing sinkers.

“Those wishing to comment specifically on the fishing tackle issue can do so by visiting www.regulations.gov.... EPA will consider comments that are submitted by September 15.”

I hate to tell you this, but if you knew how scrap yards and metal recyclers and waste disposal systems actually do things, you would realize spent bullets are the least of the problem.
Not to mention "super fund" sites.
Just google "epa toxic sites" and on the first page is several thousand sites alone.
Making lead illegal is about disarming the Peeps.
