While I understand some of the concern, this seems more like a step in the direction that most people here want; smaller government means more community law-enforcement. If people want their homes undefiled by graffiti, they have to do most of the legwork themselves. I personally am a fan of big but non-fascist government (it's a pipe dream, I know), but understand the other side, and this strikes me as in keeping with that.

It is going to have to dance the line between "neighbors snitching on neighbors" and "people watching for criminals", though.

A black and white security camera will reveal who is doing the
graffiti and the common law courts can deal with the kids
that are likely doing it.

Security cameras work so well that they will still not release the
video from the civilian buildings that recorded what happened
at the pentagon on Sept 11th.

Same deal for the video of what happened in OKC years ago.

If they can put cameras on all the phones they can put them on
all the houses but leave the content capture to the home owner.

It could be that the best of both options have been combined into one master plan.

However it appears likely that there are two teirs: As long as you do what your told it is a Brave New World, step out of line and it's 1984.

Naomi Wolf covers this, she says they like to recycle the tyranny
that works and innovate hybrids and new things.

She has a anti-republican slant, but she has since realized that members
of both parties have very bad plan for most of us.

The two parties are just a fake fight to stir up "the fans" like at a
sporting event.

You can tell they do not even care to cover this up any more by
not letting the members of the government read the bills before
signing them.

The fascism has been there for awhile, now it is just out in the open.

en.wikipedia.org...

Most ppl are kinda shocked to see the Fasces symbol of Rome
and Fascist Italy displayed in such prominent places.

But once you make a laundry list of the lies we have been told
over the years such as the JFK shooting it starts to add up.

Wait, so, you'd rather have government installed security cameras watching every corner than have people report crimes that they see and personally gain evidence of? That's a lot more like 1984 than this is. It's not like the app allows you to accuse someone and have them thrown directly into jail.

I think our world is closer to Aldous Huxley's vision than George Orwell's. But we're moving in that direction. However we aren't there yet, the only area we are 'there' may be surveillance.

I see the future dystopian like Ghost in the Shell, Stand Alone Complex the Anime series.

Link

I think within a few decades something called the Neural Network Interface will be invented, a chip that makes a direct connection with your brain and a network like the internet.

All hell will break loose when that happens.

In Ft. Worth, they have both. Cameras everywhere, but that's pretty much the whole D/FW metroplex. Arlington (where they built the new Cowboys stadium) is probably the worse for cameras around here.

Pretty much as soon as you leave your neighborhood, your on camera. Almost every corner has one, and all down the highways. Stores, shopping malls it doesn't matter where you go, and it's only a matter of time before they make their way to neighborhoods as well.

We all know as mentioned above we already have neighbors snitching on neighbors via tiplines n such, but this new ap just makes it that much easier and convinient, which means it will probably happen at least a little more often now.

I think it's time to move.
