Michael Moore calls Suspected WikiLeaks Source a 'Patriot'

Michael Moore, the Oscar-winning filmmaker, will contribute $5,000 to help defend the Army private suspected of leaking classified documents to an Internet whistle-blower from serving time in prison.

A champion of liberal and left-wing causes, Moore told The Associated Press in a telephone interview he also hopes to make the public understand that Pfc. Bradley Manning exposed what Moore called "war crimes."

"He did a courageous thing and he did a patriotic thing," Moore said.

Manning, 22, faces up to 52 years in prison if convicted of downloading classified material and passing it to an unauthorized person while working as an intelligence analyst in Iraq.

Getting an endorsement from Michael Moore should add loads of credibility to wikileaks.

The wikileaks ppl have done something that Orwell referred to.

In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

And for exposing yet even more lies from the puppets and puppeteers
who run our current plutocracy I applaud them.

This is like the hacker that exposed climate gate and the lying scientists.

The truth is a thorn in the side of their agendas, and as the past has
show their agendas are rarely good for the common ppl.

How can he call them patriots? The real patriots are the men and woman in combat fighting for his country. The freedom that he should be grateful for!

Michael Moore is a great man, a little too Liberal for me, but overall a great man. If he was a little bit more Worker oriented he could be a true Democratic spokesman.

And I can only bear to watch or listen to Michael Moore for a few minutes.

Maybe my high school friends are correct. They say I'm just a disgruntled disabled army vet who has lost his way and is becoming a flaming liberal loonie. As one of the guys said to me, "You have been reading too many newspapers, watching too much MSNBC, should stop watching Michael Moore movies, need to watch Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. It would be bloody treason for him to be patriotic. To which country should it be directed ?

What he did is respectable and I applaud him and the people he made it possible with.

Why bother fighting for freedom when it is also paving the way for freedom to be confiscated back home ?

People should think about the source that is continuously motivating more terrorist an insurgents to rise. Not just now, but also how it came this far in the first place. Removal of that source will be the start of a better future.

lol umm, Michael Moore is referring to the army guy who leaked the docs to Wikileaks in the first place. And I think Moore is a good guy who makes some very eye-opening movies. I also agree $5k isn't much money to donate to that guys defense fund but every little bit helps i guess.
