Video File Conversion Help!!

Video files have two streams - audio and video. So VLC can convert from one video format to another and also can "extract" audio stream to audio file - mp3, ogg, etc. ffmpeg can do the same.

I ask because, as I said before, I was never able to convert a video with VLC.
