"There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded," she said. "How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we've been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City." (h/t Kristinn) Calls to investigate the funding for those proposing the $100 million "Cordoba House" have fallen on deaf ears, though, as New York's Mayor Mike Bloomberg has described such an investigation as "un-American." Ms. Pelosi called the Ground Zero mosque an "urban development decision" for New Yorkers to work through. Her remarks happened on the heels of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, parting ways with President Barack Obama on the issue. Mr. Reid suggested the mosque should be built somewhere else.

What I was asking, is Piglosi going to investigate Reid since he spoke out against the mosque.

We already know where some of the funding has come from, the federal government. They are paying for the imam to travel through the mideast looking for donors to the project.

Yep, might just as well investigate 80% of the country piglosi, that is who is against the building of the mosque there. She is the devil incarnate, or at least a low level demon.

I'm pretty sure more than 80% of the country understands the first amendment and are able to understand that as Americans, they have the freedom to build a mosque there if they so please.

Oh, or we can just break the first amendment and give in to xenophobic / racist / bigots that don't want it.

And furthermore, it is a community center with basketball, swimming, a food court, etc.
Calling it a mosque is like calling Circus-Circus in Vegas a cathedral because it has a wedding chapel.

Anyone who votes based on this issue is so beyond ignorant there is no hope for them.

That being said, she's not entirely wrong about this being politicized to the max. And they LIE. Shocking, I know...politicians lying.

You're the one dividing America, you're the one who is denying the first amendment to Americans based on their colour and on their religion. A religion did not attack New York on that day, extremist terrorists did.

Boy, that community center that has a prayer center on the top two floors sure looks nefarious.

You should probably research more on where and why mosques are built. Then MAYBE you will understand that opposition is not limited to "racists and bigots"- it extends to those of us who understand the true motive of its placement. Thanks.

The hidden motive is that someone is trying to provoke a confrontation so that the government can further invade whatever freedoms we have left.

Even more disturbing is that if we were a British style parliamentary state she would automatically become the prime minister due to her being the head of the majority party of the lower legislative house
