I heard on a radio show (sorry forget which one) that areas in the middle east are known for their downloading of child porn and animal porn. So this doesn't suprise me much, just disgusts me.

first, i don't know how it is you are not on my friends list yet. sorry, and hope you don't mind being on my friends list.

secondly, some of my posts are deliberatley left up to some level of interpretation, and i like to interject some level of humor at times.

thirdly, people, groups, agencies, organizations, cultures, nations, societies, seem to be conditioned to keep secrets due to embarrassment or percieved neccessity for self preservation. Unfortunatley, if people do not share with eachother the errors they made, then the future and children and others have only one way of learning the same lesson, by experiencing it for themselves.

laws number so many no one from any society even knows the number of them, let alone what all of them mean when added up together, let alone will any child live long enough to learn all the rules to the game.

if one is convinced they have no way of living long enough to learn the rules to the game, and they are genetically programmed to not play any game they do not know the rules to, and there is only one game to play....

every culture on this planet places more mandatory expectations on their children than any child can live long enough to learn.

every culture.

every religion.

every government.

they all place mandatory expectations (laws) on their children that (by law) they must conform to, but will never live long enough to learn. and they must (by laws) participate/navigate in a system of laws by paying more law makers to make more laws. it sounds almost sane, doesn't it?

sounds more to me like we are participating in waging war against our own future.

maybe our future will one day catch up to us from behind?

Do all the Muslims on ATS who know there are people called Christians even know the differences in our many factions?

A man can have sex with animals such as sheep, cows, camels and so on. However, he should kill the animal after he has his orgasm. He should not sell the meat to the people in his own village, but selling the meat to a neighbouring village is reasonable.

Well, I was born in Germany and have both Catholic and Evangelic friends, but I'm not that familiar with their differences.

To come to your question: Sunnis and Shiites share the same core belief, which is believing that there is no God but Allah (swt) and that Mohammed (peace be upon him) is his final messenger. Both believe in the holy Qur'an as the word of God. Only hadiths are interpreted differently as far as I know.

The division started after prophet Mohammed's (peace be upon him) death. Have you read Dr. UAE's input? I'd like to add a few points, though. I hope I will not dig too deep into this (off-)topic. Sorry if I do.

The Muslims back then had needed a new leader. Those that founded the Shia belief had believed that the prophet's (pbuh) successor should have been the prophet's (pbuh) cousin/son in law Ali, as allegedly declared from the prophet and/or(?) God himself.

Sunni's however believe that leadership is not a right you get with birth, but instead earned trust that can be given or taken away by the community. Thus Sunnis chose a close friend/companion of the prophet, Abu Bakr. (pbut).

Another difference I could spontaneously name is that Shiites can have a specific marriage for a specific amount of time, which is mostly (ab)used by prostitutes in Iran to have 'legal' sex. There's a documentary about this on YouTube. I don't know it's name, but I'm sure you will come across it with a little research.

All in all I can tell from my experiences on WakeUp-Project board that there are Sunnis that accept the Shiites as a brother/sister and also some that deny them as Muslims. I myself am not the right one to judge wether someone is a (true) Muslim or not, that's in my opinion only God's right.

Neither does any other leader's thinking, no matter his position. Ayatollah Khomeini may have been just a higher-functioning Jim Jones, to make an analogy.

More to the point - it seems that there are a lot of Christian holier-than-thou attitudes "Hey, there go the camel-shaggers! LOL" sort of thinking. Realize that most Christians don't even use the Bible and its historical scholarship to inform their beliefs, but some kook with a Lexan pedestal and a million-dollar church to tell them what to think. Many 'denominational issues' would honestly be put aside if Biblical scholars were accepted by religious leaders instead of just picking and choosing what they like and ignoring what the scholarship contradicts.

To sum up - each major religion has its own weirdo hiccups. Before you pick the speck from your neighbor's eye, get the beam of wood out of your own... Jesus said that, nice man, died badly :-)
