Zimbabwe Auctions Controversy-plagued Diamonds

(AP) HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) - Zimbabwe began selling hundreds of thousands of carats of rough diamonds Wednesday that were mined from an area where human rights groups say soldiers killed 200 people, raped women and forced children into hard labor.

Heavily armed police and soldiers guarded top security vaults built at the main Harare airport, where several private jets brought buyers from Israel, India, Lebanon and Russia, officials said.

A day out for the world's elite ? How can any sane person even consider going to an auction that is cashing in on the blood and tears of the people that inhabit the area where these diamonds are delved.

I would be highly interested in obtaining the names of the people that went to this auction to understand what kind of person is evil enough to disregard the story behind these diamonds.

I'm sure there are some high profile people that went there perhaps some politicians ? Maybe a CEO or two ?
