Three men go into a hotel and rent a room. The cost of the room is $30 (Pounds, euros, etc) They each pay 10 dollars.
After they get to their room the hotel manager realizes that he over charged them, the room should only cost $25, so he gives the Bell hop $5 to give back to the men.
The Bell hop realizes that 5 will not divide evenly by three people so he gives each man $1, and keeps $2 for himself.
Since each man paid $10 and recieved $1 back that means that they each paid $9. $9 x 3 (the three men) means they paid $27 plus the $2 that the bell hop kept equals $29. So where did the other dollar go?

Each man paid $9.33 and 1/3 since they each "chipped" in 66 and 2/3 cents to tip the bell boy.
