Fergie owes Britain some five million pounds.

Or, at least she owes some shop owners in Britain five million pounds. Who knows where all her pounds have gone.....and wouldn't Oprah be jealous to know that Fergie can shed so many pounds?

Still, my question persists.......Isn't England bailing out their royalty anymore?

Is America becoming the only English speaking superpower left who is bailing out their royalty?

I can't foresee any of the Obama/Soros inner circle of billionaires ever having to declare bankruptcy. Not while Obama/Soros are still president.

While I'm on the subject of the Brazil Summer Olympics......how did you like that quick segue..............are the Brazilian Death Squad secret police actually going to clear out the slums, squalor and opium dens of their city by the time of the Olympic openings?

And if the gang bangers of Rio are actually driven out of the city by the 2012 Summer Olympic's torch lighting, where will they go to continue to live and kill and sell drugs: Los Angeles?

Even Queen gets grumbled at if she asks for more money.

Members of the British royal family pay for their own servants, housekeeping, property upkeep, etc out of their own pockets. The only thing that the taxpayers pay for is security, and covering the expenses of their OFFICIAL duties. AFAIK they don't receive a salary but they are exempt from taxation, but from what I understand most of them do voluntarily pay taxes.

It's actually much cheaper then the President of the United States where the taxpayers pay for everything on top of a $400,000 annual paycheck.

They are not underwritten by the state as such.

They get a stipend from the civil list, plus a whole load of other perks and trappings of state but they don't have a blank cheque from the UK state.

The queen is phenomenally wealthy due to all that inherited land/property etc.

The minor royals wealth varies depending on how well their family has husbanded/invested it their inherited wealth down the generations.

Those who marry into Royalty and leave in disgrace even less so. Just like anybody else, spending more than income consistently = insolvency.

Well when you look at her divorce settlement from Prince Andrew she didnt actually get that much in comparison to most high profile divorce settlements.

She gets 15k a year from Prince andrew. She got £750K from the Queen to be spent on a new house, 2 million from the Queen to set up a trust fund for princess's Beatrice and Eugenie, and 500k provided by the Queen to spend with no restrictions.

Hardly substantial when compared with Dianas divorce settlement of around 17million. Prince Andrew is a millionaire.

Plus, she has a string of failed business ventures behind her.

Well, whatever the tabloids say, apparently Fergie has no trouble handing over a credit card to the shopkeeps who recognize her.

I just found those figures on a quick google search and would have to look into it further to confirm the total accuracy of them, but I doubt they are far off.

It's commonly known that Fergie didnt get much in her settlement.

She was not the Royal's favourite of people. She certainly got nowhere near what Diana recieved.

I don't dispute those facts of the Diane v. Fergie polls. I mean, Diane in her prime was the Mike Tyson in his prime of London.

Diane past her prime is dead. Mike Tyson past his prime got beaten up by Buster Douglas.

Still, small time royalty's got to be a lot better than the common folk....unless you are Ann Boleyn or something. Something to lose one's head about.

I still can't believe that America is last bastion in the English speaking world of bailing out its royalty. Wow. Could you imagine the settlement Michelle could get off Barack? Could she join Mrs. ex-Tiger Woods at the jet setting capitals of the world.

Or would there be any escaping the wrath of watchdog George Soros?
