I think the deepest investigation is found on the Flying Saucery website...Berwyn Incident article.

Prepare to be disappointed, because the conclusions involved a lot of things coming together to give the illusion of a UFO crash. If I remember rightly, it was a Russian rocket stage, meteor shower, the torchlight from poachers and a healthy rumour mill.
