BP Oil Well Gushed 12 Times Initial Estimates

That doesn't really surprise me. They've been rushing around so much trying to contain this disaster, that things are bound to be over-looked. Thats what happens though when big corporations are trying to line their pockets as fast as they can. I hope that BP spends more money trying to contain this than they would have gained off of the oil.

This is just standard information management. The strategically timed release of details after the event.

It was reported on the BBC near the end of the broadcast almost as an added detail. Hardly anyone else in the room noticed.

The sad thing is, people REALLY don't care. They will say they do, but they are just words. Those very same people would drive around with the BP logo on the side of their cars of the gas price was right.

"In all, about 1.2 million barrels of oil have been accounted for, either burned, captured or skimmed off the ocean's surface. That's about a quarter of the new estimate for the total spill.

Where the other three-quarters has gone is unclear. Some has evaporated; some has been consumed by microbes; but scientists remain troubled by the possibility that large amounts of oil remain underwater in cloudlike plumes.

"This further confirms that a lot of the oil is still at sea. And we just don't know the implications of it," said Ron Kendall, director of the Institute of Environmental and Human Health at Texas Tech University. Kendall will testify before Congress on Wednesday about his fears that dispersant chemicals have helped much of this oil sink into deep-sea habitats."

I have a feeling in this case, the out-of-sight, out-of-mind saying doesn't apply anymore.
If anything the scientists and fishermen will surely speak out and for a long time to come too.

It troubles me greatly though that the whole world witnessed one thing but the men in charge and the men responsible for this disaster stated something vastly different. This is exactly what creates fear! To see one thing but to hear the so called leaders and professionals saying something completely different. Mind games, just as Pentothal said in his post "standard information management".

Meanwhile they seem to have a change of plans. Now to "static kill" the well that they couldn't bottom kill. Not to mention the first relief well was at one point was ahead of schedule but for now they are taking this approach. I've found myself questioning every move they make now regardless if they make sense or not.
