I wouldnt put all my faith in this "fact v myth" document. Here is one that I dont whole heatily agree with:

(quoted from your same site)

Tea Party Myth #6 – The Economic Stimulus Had No Effect

o The Truth: Earlier this month, the reliably Republican Wall Street Journal agreed the Obama administration has helped stem the bleeding from the Bush Recession:

“Many forecasters say stimulus spending is adding two to three percentage points to economic growth in the second and third quarters, when measured at an annual rate. The impact in the second quarter, calculated by analyzing how the extra funds flowing into the economy boost consumption, investment and spending, helped slow the rate of decline and will lay the groundwork for positive growth in the third quarter — something that seemed almost implausible just a few months ago. Some economists say the 1% contraction in the second quarter would have been far worse, possibly as much as 3.2%, if not for the stimulus.

So, they attempt to bust a myth with facts taken from economists from Goldman Sachs, one of the largest recipients of moneys in the bailout? That alone sounds shady to me and makes me wonder where/who they got the rest of their facts from.

I wont deny that BO stepped into an already boiling cauldron when he took office, but I also take issues with an amazing amount of his policies. I wont say that I give anymore credence to the Tea Party movement either though. When they first started, I had high hopes and even attended the first rally in my area. As time has worn on, it too has been turned to a darker side of right and taken over by the very same agenda led politicians that it was standing up against.

· Tea Party Myth #1: Healthcare Reform includes Death Panels that will Kill Your Grandmother

Yep, that’s false. The Healthcare Reform Law is not about healthcare at all. It is about health insurance. The law does not require anyone to provide health care to anyone, it just requires you to have insurance from six months after you are born until the day you die. Further, it does not require insurance companies to insure you, per se. They can elect to pay a penalty of $100 per day per person for refusing to insure you. So if an insurance company decides that it is more economical to let you die than pay for your medical care, they have that option. Hence, the reasoning behind the “death panels” myth.

· Tea Party Myth #2: President Obama is to Blame for our National Debt

Again, patently false. I don’t know why any educated, reasonable person would believe that. The Federal Reserve Bank is responsible for our national debt.

· Tea Party Myth #3: The Government Ruins Health Care

Yeah, not really accurate. The government has very little to do with actual health care, they are primarily lawyers taking bribes. The sad state of the US healthcare system can be traced to the pharmaceutical and insurance industries.

· Tea Party Myth #4: President Obama is not an American Citizen

The media has already labeled people who believe this as “birthers”. See Myth #7.

· Tea Party Myth #5: President Obama Has Raised Taxes.

Of course, that’s incorrect. Congress raises taxes, not the President. To quote the original article, “No one has had a tax increase yet, …” But as long as we continue to spend $2 billion a week on wars in the Middle East, tax increases are inevitable.

· Tea Party Myth #6: President Obama is a Muslim

Probably false, but for me, it’s more along the lines of “who cares?” I’m an atheist, but I do remember a few Bible verses, like “By their deeds shall ye know them.” Now, I don’t know which religion says kidnapping, torture, and assassinations are OK; but I don’t think it’s either Christian or Muslim. So, by his deeds, Obama is not a Muslim.

· Tea Party Myth #6 – The Economic Stimulus Had No Effect

Definitely not true. The Economic Stimulus has insured that, even if the federal government never spent another dime of taxpayer money, every American citizen alive today would be a debt slave to the Federal Reserve Bank until the day they die.

I don’t know why the original article listed two #6’s, but I’d like to add a #7.

· Tea Party Myth #7 – These are Tea Party Myths

Since it’s inception, Republicans and Democrats have been trying desperately to counter the popularity of the Tea Party without addressing the issues they raise. The Republicans, being currently out of “power” are attempting to infiltrate and hijack the movement to their advantage. The Democrats, being in “power” are attempting to denigrate and marginalize them. Neither side, nor the media, has sought to address the issues that truly bring the Tea Party people together. Have you ever seen a CNN story on the Tea Party where the word “racist” wasn’t brought up? It’s a lot easier to just say, “well, they’re all racist or something ...” than it is to argue in favor of more government control, less liberty for citizens, and more debt slavery to the Federal Reserve Bank.

To call these “Tea Party Myths” is disingenuous, at best. Sure, some people believe these myths. And sure, some people who believe these myths support the Tea Party. But to say these are Tea Party Myths is like saying the Democratic Party supports government subsidies to hookers and pimps just because ACORN does.

Tea Party Myth #1: Healthcare Reform includes Death Panels that will Kill Your Grandmother

The truth is that the health bill, at least in its original form, called for the formation of panels of "stakeholders" to include insurance companies, health care providers and several groups to decide who should receive what care. No where was there a call for the panels to include the consumer.

Tea Party Myth #2: President Obama is to Blame for our National Debt

You'll have to be a bit more specific as to what debt you are referring to. The gross debt or the public debt or are you referring to the deficit? I would be careful of blaming any prez, including obama for our debt. Congress is the one in charge of taxes and spending. The president can propose but he cannot indebt us. The problem with the obama debt/gdp ratio is the fall in government revenue as the economy slows. During most of the bush administration and reagan administration the economy grew as did tax revenues enabling the federal government to take on ever increasing levels of national debt. It is more appropraite to pin the blame or heap the praise for debt/gdp on congress.

Tea Party Myth #4: President Obama is not an American Citizen

The "birth certificate" is a short form that verifies nothing. That is the only document that has been publically verified to exist. None of the entities you cite have actually seen the actual long form that is purported to have been examined. Notice the state of hawaii was very cagey in their phrasing. Obama refuse to release ANY documents related to his past. That os what has people wondering what is going on. The birth announcements are meanlingless. Read the arguments in full instead of getting your info from the huff and poff post or its equal. Even if it's all smoke don;t you think that in the interest of full dislosure, one of obama's campaign promises, he would be willing to release his full history? The judge is red herring whatever he said has no bearing on the validity of the argument except in his court.

The Truth: They keep asking “why won’t he show the birth certificate?” Well, he has. It has been inspected by President Bush’s Justice Department, the government of the State of Hawaii, state and federal courts, several non-partisan fact-checking organizations, and several media outlets. There were also birth announcements in two Hawaii newspapers at the time of his birth. The Judge who heard the lawsuit called it “frivolous”. There is no factual basis to questions about the President’s citizenship.

The problems our country faces go way beyond bush or obama. We spend way beyond our means and incur debt to do so. At this point in time it is impossible to grow our way out of the morass of debt that has been incurred. Stop blaming one party or the other and realize that wither oarty is leading is down the same path, just at different speeds. Read what this administration and/or its congressional allies are trying to ram down our throats before you spout off.

I thought myths were supposed to be false?

Half of these are true.

This thread reminds me of this;

DidGlennBeckRapeAndMurderAYoungGirlin1990

Especially the birth certificate thing. I mean, Glenn Beck hasn't provided any documentation to prove that he didn't rape and murder a young girl in 1990.

Top tea party myth:

#1: The myth that the Tea Party started out as an organized group with a well-defined ideological agenda, rather than simply as a collection of disillusioned Americans on both the left and the right, said non-"party" subsequently having been rapidly hijacked by a veritable clown-car full of snake-oil peddlers and shills, each claiming falsey to speak for a wide, ultimately non-definable group of generally upset citizens.
