Is this the right place for an introduction?

I have a shortage of common sense but hi anyway.
I am new, obviously, I know there's a whole post 20 rule but I don't quite get it yet or I read it wrong. Anyway I tried replying to someone's post and a 404 thingy came up, not sure what I did wrong it must be that I have to say hello here first, or the persons' thread was deleted or something....

So If anyone can help me out here it would be much appreciated so I don't post in the wrong place.

I can do this again by saying hello properly lol

Hi Tofind151, and welcome to the ATS community. For now, you can reply to any thread in any member forum you wish, as well as send & receive (PM's)Private Messages to Staff only.
Once you have achieved 20 posts, you will then be able to start your own threads and additionally send & receive messages to and from fellow ATS members.

To my knowledge, the 20 post rule is in place to ward off spammers. You will need at least 20 posts in any of the topic boards to create a thread of your own (in a forum other than introductions).

I get the 404 from time to time, too. I can only guess that the thread was soooooooooo way absurd, or potentially "harmful". way out of line, too much BS, whatever, it never sees the light of day for ATS members.
I'd like to be able to read them, however. Just cuz.........

so u should not have a problem.

ATS is a place where we gather to seek the truth.
Sometimes we don't like it

I try. I've looked through this site for about two days and I couldn't resist coming along. I find that some topics you can get very easily drawn into so you need to do the whole mental examination thing once in a while, but in whole there is some very good threads. I am glad I found this site because people on self help sites were getting sick of me delivering them truth, and "salvation" LOL...... Instead they preferred indulging in talking about goldfish, alphabet games and suicide. So, although respect to them (maybe apart from the goldfish thing :wow, I needed to find a place where I was more welcome.

I don't think the 'wow' feature really went according to plan....

Anyway I shall be snooping around thanks for the replies. I will make posts longer next time but I just need to find my feet. I don't know why features and me can't have a good relationship, like that smiley. oh well. back to more serious matters!

Isn't that 404 thing frustrating? It usually just means someone got really rude, too suggestive, or swore too much. Sometimes I have gone to answer a thread and it's been 404ed and I can't even figure out why

At least now you know it wasn't anything you did, and the 20 required posts adds up fast, just put your 2 cents in a few threads here and there......
