They didn't seem to have a problem creating jobs during the Clinton years before the Bush tax cuts were enacted. I think some 20 million jobs were created during the Clinton years so why is it such a problem now? I remember that we had a budget surplus prior to the Bush tax cuts, all of it wiped out in less than 8 years of republican rule.

The excuses that you give for their lack of job creation won't hold water. Obama stated it correctly when he said that republicans care more about the next election than they do about the next generation of americans. They are doing everything in their power to insure that Obama's policies fail regardless of the cost to the nation. Greed and lust for power is a much more likely explanation for their actions, or should I say lack of action.

This is a perfect example of why extending the Bush tax cuts to the nation's wealthiest people will not produce any of the jobs or tax revenue that the republicans claim it will.

Once they realize that the Democrats and Obama are sure to lose power, that will be the signal to start hiring and expanding. Until then they are just keeping their money safe.

This is true of every small business owner I know of also. It is not just the big corporations. Keep in mind that a small business owner having an LLC is taxed personaly one the company's profit. $250,000 is not a very big company. They see the slam there about to take and are keeping money if the need arises, there done. Shut it down, keep what the saved and more on.

IMO

Corporations exist to earn profits for their owners. They do not exist for the general welfare of society. It is really that simple.

This is one of the undesired results of capitalism. Once enough capitalists become successful there is little left for everyone else.

Sure, but I'd like to see them succeed without people. People make corporations. Corporations can't exist without workers. It only works well if it's mutually beneficial and respectful. They're going to have trouble expanding into the future if this trend continues...and maintaining their sustained levels of revenue and investements because this will backfire into the economy, as this holding of money is.

Fact is they're holding a lot of money. And so by the way are people. All of that is self-fulfilling prophecy of an economic downfall.

The better question to ask is WHY is this really happening..

I think you're exactly right. People can and have existed without corporations but corporations cannot exist and prosper without people. The fact that corporations are allowed to express their needs over and above those of the people is the root cause for our economic collapse. Something has to change!

Yeah who really busts their ass for 500k?

The only people really busting their asses are making dirt. Today we see a record number of families living below the poverty line.

BELOW THE POVERTY LINE

THIS IS AMERICA. There was a time that this was unacceptable. But hell, someone has to make that burger you're sucking down, and guess what, the job pays S*$%. Someone has to hang up the designer clothes your privileged kids wear, and guess what, the job pays S*%$. Our middle class is steadily being eroded, and we're being segregated in to two classes. One working to serve the other.

The fact of the matter is that we've all had the wool pulled over their eyes and the US has become the world's largest pyramid scheme.

Who can honestly take issue with paying extra taxes when you make so much more money than others. Your average American worker, high-school educated with no college rarely brings home more than 30,000 a year.

My point is, bite the bullet and pay your taxes. Because the vast majority of Americans stretching every dollar I PROMISE YOU have no sympathy for you whatsoever.

Call it redistribution of wealth if you really want to but what you should do is examine the condition of the people this money goes to. And if you still take issue with where this money goes then maybe you should take a close look within.

I also heard that ....

You heard wrong ... .

They claim that if we give them the cash they will create the jobs,

"They" are only asking to keep their "cash."

The only people asking for "cash" are the ones who don't make it!

This entire thread is premised upon people who have "cash," but do not want to invest it!

Why should they? So beggars should take it?

I think that you miss the point that was made by the founding fathers.

What a man makes a man should be able to keep, and the
taxes should be fair and equal for all.

The pirates have subverted the country by not doing the primary
role of the government and that is to care for its ppl.

Those who have huge incomes due to this corrupt plutocracy
that has arisen from the former US are the pirates.

At the end of an empire the pirates always loot the treasury
and that is what we are seeing.

They sold out the jobs overseas and let cheap labor flood the country
driving wages down to sharecropper levels.

40.8 million ppl on food stamps, millions being tossed out of their
homes onto the street.

The pirates hand out trillions to bailouts that go to bonuses for banksters
and some are not even in the US !

But also the parasites at the bottom calling for the socialism that
spread thru europe like the plague is not the answer either.

Honest work for honest pay, and the crooks and liars in DC and
wall street are taken to the courts and tried for their numerous
crimes.

When ppl expose the government for what it has become
the lose their job like sibel edmonds, or are targetted for
death as the military man who sent the docs to wikileaks.

The lies, deception, and corruption is bringing this country
to its knees and those who have tried bravely to expose it
have stood nearly alone.

The government only existed to serve and protect the ppl not
enslave it to men who just pay off the puppet we think we elect.

So it is up to the ppl to undo the corruption and the remove the
criminals from power and they exist in both parties.

If the ppl do not restore the republic it will fall and there are those
within and without who are working to that end.

I find great humor in the fact that many years ago a former
KGB agent exposed the efforts from the outside, Yuri Bezmenov.

Ideological Subversion and Demoralization as he mentioned
are but one aspect of the destruction of the US that is underway.

That is why I have said for some time now I feel the US is
near its end, and like Rome it has been destroyed from within
just like the founding fathers warned.

Good Luck to you all !

There are "stories" everywhere. That doesn't make them true.

"Bailout money" did not create any jobs. It might have saved a few, but not one of the companies that took my tax dollars "created" any work.

The only job creators are people willing to invest in the future. Some companies make it and some don"t. Those that employ Obama's favorites get "bailed" out.

Just look at who got the biggest donations from AIG, Goldman-Sachs and Citigroup.

Just look at who got the biggest shares of GM and Chrysler.

If you believe that "everyman" benefits from this charade, then you are sadly mistaken.
