Venezuela supplies a significant percentage of oil in the US. This could spike us oil prices. While much attention gets focused on the middle east,
the US is actually far more dependent on oil from South America.
Columbia and Venezuela have had some diplomatic tensions, lately. Columbia has been battling FARC, a rebel group, with substantial US aid. They now
accuse of Venezuela of assisting.
