The film rights to author Max Brooks' zombie book World War Z have been bought by Brad Pitt to be adapted for his production company Plan B, MTV reported. Pitt also plans to act in the film. The movie is planned for release during summer 2012.

The story chronicles a worldwide zombie war through accounts from survivors. The studio also optioned Brooks' books The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.

World War Z

TNT's new alien invasion series "Falling Skies" debuted its first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con Friday with stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood and former "Battlestar Galactica" producer Mark Verheiden there to make the introduction to the packed audience.

Set six months after a devastating invasion by an unknown, incomprehensible alien race, the series follows the humans' efforts to survive and eventually fight back.

Wyle's character, Tom Mason, is a former professor with three children -- one of them abducted by the aliens for reasons unknown. Wyle said he is looking forward to the arc that will take this "cerebral character and making him a military leader."

Falling Skies - Alien Invasion Story

This TV show and movie sound like they have the possibility of being awesome. I will have to make sure to stay updated so I don't miss them. I hope more zombie movies start showing up in theaters.

I actually just read about World War Z in the paper today. I own the book(I think it's required reading if you like zombies). I'm excited about this too. The article in the paper also mentioned that two other Brooks' books got picked up to be made into movies(The Zombie Survival Guide and TZSG: Recorded Attacks)

I'm a huge science fiction nerd. I hadn't head about Falling Skies, but the premise sounds awesome especially because it adds in post apocalyptic fiction into the mix(which I also love). I don't know if it will be any good, but I have to give it a shot.

I pretty much have to give it a chance. There really are slim pickings on TV as far as science fiction is concerned. I even stuck with Heroes until the end.
