A question:

If Aliens revealed themselves to us tomorrow, or one of their craft crashed and was recovered and not covered up by any of the worlds governments or there was full disclosure what would happen?

Aside from the new technologies and amazing things they may be able to show us what would you do? I've been thinking about this lately. Would the world as we know it sort of come to a halt? Would we all go to work in the morning or would everything kinda shut down.

This may be a weird question and very well may have been asked before but seriously I think it would be hard for me to wake up the next day and just continue on with my life as it was before. Kiss my Girlfriend and Daughter goodbye like I do every morning go get on the bus, stop off at the grocery store by my work to grab my fruit for breakfast like always. Get to work greet my employees and say what? How bout them Aliens!

It just seems like it would be weird. And maybe it wouldn't happen maybe we'd all pack up and head towards wherever the aliens all were. Maybe they'll never reveal them selves if they do exist and are visiting Earth, because there is too many humans like me who wouldn't know how to handle it. I wouldn't know what to do.

Would you?

I think your life would continue. You'd still have your routine, after all, we are creatures of habit....

But the world would finally see the universe through the lens of realization that life is teeming through the universe, and that would change our society.

Very true, we are creatures of habit, and spare the lucky minority I believe that deep down most of us find change scary.

Would it change society for the better? Would it unite us?

Society would process an event like this multiple ways. Religious systems would change, some would end altogether.
Governments would become xenophobic, others would welcome the visitors.
As creatures who fear change (overall), we might initially react harshly.
Hopefully, as a society we could recognize our quickness to militant fear and adapt, since we would realize that we're also being observed....Funny how knowing you're being evaluated can alter your behavior.

Who really can tell the complete vision, but I would assume some FEAR along with CHAOS would begin to rise within all the ignorant people it already existed within. I figure they would take advantage of the situation or atleast try too the LAWLESSNESS that is.

Aside from the new technologies and amazing things they may be able to show us what would you do?

Be myself, and observe them for the first time in person instead of energy. I would be cautious ofcourse, but thats just natural alertness to new species of intelligent kind in my neighborhood. I wouldnt act all weird because I can imagine if I encountered their habitat out in the open, even if I observed them for many rotations I would be alert to all the native peoples moves.

I've been thinking about this lately. Would the world as we know it sort of come to a halt? Would we all go to work in the morning or would everything kinda shut down.

From what I gather humanity would have big issues, if there is conflict between both species again if its peace most humans would live their lives because they still have resopnsibilities. And I would imagin many would try to intergrate themselves in E.T. working environments if possible.

Maybe they'll never reveal them selves if they do exist and are visiting Earth, because there is too many humans like me who wouldn't know how to handle it. I wouldn't know what to do.
Would you?

I would have too!

nice thread

After a while things would change. But slowly. I imagine that most people would be so shock they would just carry on as if nothing had changed. What else could you do? Something so huge can't be processed in a day, certainy not by everyone. "What about them aliens, huh?" sounds about right to me. Realistic anyway.

If they crashed then I would probably drop everything and go see if there was anything I could do to help , assuming proximity to the crash site.
If they merely landed and said "Hey humans, hows yer hammers hanging?" I would probably get on with my normal days work, then with the days toil complete, go and get roaring drunk in celebration of this wonderous day!
Other than that I cant comment. Lots depends on the reactions of the powerful, and one can never be entirely sure what those slimey b-tards are up to, or what drives thier choices. I have to say though , if TPTB were to act against the visiting offworlders, then I might get a little... aggravated. Like , stuffing house bricks through skulls aggravated. Honestly , I dont mind what mankind does to himself, because at least all he can do there is harm mankind. A fitting punishment for stupidity, but the moment someone starts dishing that out to other species... I would get very upset so to speak.
Alot of folks think that life on earth as we know it would totaly cease, and be instantly more insane, or harder, or much easier, or any number of crazy outlandish situations in between... I think assuming a general trustworthy and friendly nature in the newcomers, that all things considered , things would not change that much, certainly not in the immediate future. Sure, interaction with a species which likely as not is more intelligent than ours, might well result in better understanding among the cultures of our earth, and might result therefore in peace and progress, but I do not foresee the same MASSIVE and rapid deconstruction of our way of life that some others do.

It would be great if they “come in peace” and gave the world technology for free power and space travel, also they could zap all the nukes and other missiles to stop us killing each other.

Add robots to that list to do all the work so everyone on the earth could enjoy life.

Honestly I've been waiting for that day to happen since I was a small child. It's kind of the event I've been longing after since...well ever since I can remember heh.

As foolish as it may sound, I think that's when my life would really begin.

As long as people still have running water, electricity, internet, and the mail running, many, if not most, would care less, and people would post on twitter and youtube "LOL Aliens I wonder if they are from uranus huhuhu". Many people are only interested in the status quo and only panic or shake awake if something significantly disturbs it.

A lot would depend on the manner of the revelation.

If it was the 'we come in peace and we've been visiting since the dawn of time' people would react pretty well overall. People would probably go to work as normal. Most religions would bend, some would break and at least one new one would be born.

If its the "your planet has been scheduled for demolition to make way for an intergalactic bypass, prepare to die" then there would be massive transport confusion, and probably a breakdown in essential services, due to people going home to their families.

Handle it? I have been waiting for it for years now, and cannot wait to greet them. You are right tho, some will not be able to handle it, it will crush long held beliefs. I think most will be un-affected by a mass landing, and will accept any technological help that offer, I mean, we need help, especially in the Gulf, and to remove the serpents that are running everything. Also it would be nice if all the wars were stopped and all the soldiers came home, and if the air and water were cleaned up and made fit to breathe and drink.

Good reply's all.

I guess like it was said life would have to continue as normal. We all have our responsibilities don't we. Mine are minimal when compared to say the Doctor that has to save a child's life and can't just say " OMG ALIENS AHHHH" and not show up for work.

I think however a great number of humanity would not react well even if they came in peace. I imagine there would be a lot of worry that the end is near, complete with all the chaos and looting and such.

Of course I hope that wouldn't happen, but I don't hold out much of that hope for humanity lately.

autowrench, friend, there are many of us patiently waiting; the majority of the people would just pop poo if off as being tripe or bull feces until they confronted an e t in person, and of course there will be that percentage that will be screaming about them being minions of the anti-christ, blah, blah, blah; but total panic? Not unless an Independence Day scenario unfolds very rapidly...

I myself would be ready to explore their tech, i.e. their power sources, medical knowledge, and how do I apply for pilot training? Let's jump on it, heal our planet, heal our people, and see what's out there...

I have tried to imagine what it would be like, really be like, if full disclosure was made by the presence of ET craft in our skies in the open. For years I thought, it would simply be a cool thing, some would panic others would get a beer and a lawn chair to enjoy the show. Nowadays, I truly grasp the scope of what ET craft in our skies would mean.

Life would indeed come to a stand-still I think for most anyone. While I could see some panic initially, there is only so long a person could panic before that sat staring into the sky wondering if there were indeed something to panic over. As people became to realize, we are not alone, world peace would be a must. We would all have something in common. We are all people of earth. Hopefully, any advanced ET that came in peace might explain their views on life, the universe, and everything.

Within a day of the aliens landing and saying "We come in peace" People would be posting conspiracies on the internet. The aliens are illegal and should be shot, We don't want no stinking aliens in our area. Protests would pop up saying that the aliens are everything from child molesters to the anti-Christ. Christians would be under attack from everyone who would jump in saying that the bible is wrong and asking why their religion hasn't folded.
Countries without immediate access to the aliens would be accusing the contacted country of hoarding the alien technology. Some countries would be preparing for war against the invading armies. People would feel helpless in the face of such an advanced society that can travel the great distances through space, the would wonder what type of weapons the aliens must have.

Months later WWIII would break out with the aliens being protected by some countries and hunted by others.

Of coarse I don't believe any of this, I just thought that I would post the opposite of what everyone else is posting.
