It is all good and fair to bash someone who would want to collect a check and get paid for nothing.
I used to despise that sort.
However, I have grown a bit older and a lot softer.
I used to be a very physically strong individual I worked 60 – 80 hours a week for almost the last 22 years. I was a proud American and almost never
vacationed.
I did all of this while being Diabetic and the father of 6 kids.
I worked because I was poor while growing up, and I refused to allow my kids to have anything but the best.
I never worked outside of the company I worked for in their field and I almost never worked under the table, I was a proud American, did I mention
that?
I saw myself as a righteous white knight doing the good deed, and if I could inspire just a few to see things my way and make them better then maybe
the world would be better.
All of this time I would collect tools of the trade and some toys for myself.
So now I find myself old and broke, both physically and financially.
So yeah I collect a check a bit earlier than I thought I would.
But I look back and realize I worked 40 years worth of American work roughly in the space of 20 years.
I see my grandfather living a good life in his retirement and my other grandfather before he died lived a good life too.
No matter how hard I worked I was always just 1 month away from poverty though.
I just cannot see how the grandfolks did it, I finally realized that my grandfolks were playing a different game than I was, the game has changed.
So as for the 3d screen forget it I have my 40 inch flat panel and a few good modern computers, I have all of my work tools and much more.
I can build a house and never have to buy a tool, I can also maintain said house.
I was very crafty, the only self manufactured thing I have not delved into is brewing, that is my next step however.
So…… what does this all mean?
I pay A LOT of taxes I pay income tax, tax at any store I go to I pay a water bill a sewage and garbage bill, house payment and insurance for it.
Everything I could do very easy for myself I get taxed for.
So as for making myself a millionaire and still being able to be proud of who you are, it will not happen. But I already have my toys so my income
just has to sustain me for the little things I need.
Going off of the grid seems like my only and best choice.
I can generate electricity, install a septic tank, burn my trash, pump or even carry and purify my water, garden and dry / can food.
All of this and no fluoride and gmo.
Seems like off the grid is the best way.
And in the event of a cash crash or even just hyperinflation I would be totally unaffected.
Looks like I will win after all.
I will just have to do it without a 96 inch screen, I’m cool with that though.
I do however salute you for being the White Knight.
And I wish upon you blessings and toys beyond your wildest dreams.
I will however save you a spot in my area when you come to my realization.
Peace.
And to Expat, it is my opinion you may be the richest man i know of.
Good on You.
