ccd bakeout just means it was unable to image at that moment.

We were expecting a solar wind to stream in today and tomorrow due to a flare a few days ago, but it is a normal event.

Spaceweather is reporting this for geomagnetic storms:

Mid-latitudes 0-24 hr 24-48 hr
ACTIVE 20 % 20 %
MINOR 05 % 05 %
SEVERE 01 % 01 %

High latitudes 0-24 hr 24-48 hr
ACTIVE 25 % 25 %
MINOR 15 % 15 %
SEVERE 05 % 05 %

SOHO is an older solar observatory that has recently been superseded by the SDO or the Solar Dynamic Observatory. It has much better instruments with much higher resolution. It just recently finished it's one year of commissioning and is now 100% operational and providing terabytes a day of data. It can be observed at the following NASA website.

sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov...

and yes there has been recent solar flare activity. It knocked out G15 satellite and turned it into a "Zombie" with the C-band transmitters stuck in a transmit state.
