Way to stereotype. Have you forgotten about the (majority of) Russians and Turks that work really hard, aren't on welfare, and are trying really hard to assimilate into the society?

It's basically because of how the National Socialists interpreted those lyrics. They sort of tainted the real meaning behind that stanza. The lines that are officially part of the German national anthem are part of the traditional song; they're just the third stanza.

Personalcomputer is the german word for PC - does this also mean personnel computer?.....Nope

Secondly you point out that under Staatsangehörigkeit it says german.
That is correct, because Staatsangehörigkeit means NATIONALITY, to which german is the correct answer. The austrian one is wrong, not the german one.

You have absolutely no idea about history. Do you even know how the second world war started??? When hitler was trying to expand beyond germanys borders into france. The nazi false flag attacks, to gain support for an invasion of poland etc... How can you portray germany as the victim here.

Most germans accept that germany was in the wrong and are ashamed of that part of history. As a result they have built on their mistakes and turned germany into one of the most developed and tolerant countries in the world with the aim never to make the same mistake that their ancestors did. But you make excuses for the disgusting behaviour of the nazis and try and pass it off as a righteous response to allied aggression?! you really have no idea. Modern day germans would be ashamed of you.

We here in the states are in a similiar state. Tradition is being surplanted by saccarine lip service. "Immigrants" are coming to colonize and not be a part of the culture.

They call us nazi's over here for fighting this also.

I am well aware that what you said wasn't directed at me. However, you were incorrect by just saying that "Deutschland über alles" is a Nazi slogan. Yes, the Nazis used it for their own ends, but in and of itself, it's not Nazi and to say so is wrong.

It's not banned. Where'd you hear that? It's just not officially part of the national anthem; only the third stanza is.

Here is the stanza:

Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Über alles in der Welt,
Wenn es stets zu Schutz und Trutze
Brüderlich zusammenhält.
Von der Maas bis an die Memel,
Von der Etsch bis an den Belt,
|: Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Über alles in der Welt! :|

It was written in 1841, almost a century before the fascist time. It was written during a time when Germany was first getting it's act together and becoming one unified country instead of a bunch of individual kingdoms. The composer of this stanza thought that German unity was more important than anything else in the world; hence the lines Deutschland, Deutschland über alles, | Über alles in der Welt.

No you are wrong!
Ask a German lawyer about the differences between a "Personalausweis" and a "Personenausweis". The english translation is correct by spelling "Personal Identification". But the German name Personalausweis really makes no sense. Most ppl say that it is called "Personal-" because your "Personalien" (personal particulars) are inscripted on it.

From a linguistic perspective the German version is just plain out wrong. It should be named "Personenausweis" like it is in the 2 other German speaking countries Austria and Switzerland.

And a PC is not a "Personalcomputer" in German. A PC is translated "Persönlicher Computer" whichs means the same thing as the englisch version "personal Computer". This got NOTHING to do with the issue.

And do not ask me why but nationalities are beeing marked by writing out the name of the country NOT the nationality. This is common practice all over the world. If you are from switzerland you Nationality is not "Swiss" it is "Switzerland". I guess this was done to avoid confusing the names of countries and nationalities.

Anyhow the confusion and the suspicion is well based and nothing to brush away so easily as you attempted to.
