Was Colorado Far Enough ?????

Well Due to the fact that you can never get the truth about what was going on with the oil leak and the ever looming threats of hurricanes and the steady declining economy of Mississippi.Me and my Family saved enough money to move to Denver Colorado.

We arrived in Denver July 13th 2010,and it has been very easy to relocate agency's both Government and private have bent over backwards to help us as well as the local V.A. hospital we are not Hungry or Homeless

I have been keeping up with the latest news but with all that is going on,I mean things we had been talking about since this disaster happened(methane,sea bed cracks,poison rain and toxic waters)has been slowly been picked up by the MSM

So my Question is was Colorado far Enough,Oh yeah if you leave the Gulf Coast and need Some where the folks in Colorado are amazingly nice and are very glad to help out

You know, I think Colorado would be just fine to avoid the gulf catastrophe, but personally I do not think that anywhere in the world is completely safe from mankind's misadventures. You may as well be replacing one threat with another.

I will say though that Colorado must be relatively safe as the CIA felt it necessary to relocate there from Virginia.

It was my individual responsibility to move and further more after serving 10 + years in the Army shouldnt i be offered some help???????????

Not really. I mean I am all for you getting VA healthcare and all, but just because you spent 10 years in the military doesn't mean we should take care of everything for you the rest of your life.

By the way, I do thank you and respect your service to the country.

This is just good people trying to help other good people have a good day. I'm as critical of the government as anyone (and more than most), but some government employees are just regular Joes trying to make a living.

Trust me, the power, phone and cable companies out here are probably more anti-socialist than you are.

That said, here in Colorado, we've not only got distance between us and the Gulf, but also altitude. Fumes and gases that could pose a threat (heavier than the rest of the atmosphere) not only have to cover a vast distance to get here, but also have to defy gravity to gain elevation. As a toxic cloud increased in volume sufficiently to move inland, it would begin to "puddle" as the inland elevation increased. In order to reach Denver, this "puddle" of toxic gas would need to be over a mile deep (or high). Since the fumes and gasses would need to be heavier than air, it would likely be "squashed" by the rest of the atmosphere, and spread out in other directions before it got to Denver.

Now, that's not to say we're not going to see any negative physical, environmental or economic effects of this disaster, but a toxic cloud from the Gulf is not very likely in my amateur opinion. We're far more likely to suffer from social and economic effects brought on by mass relocation of gulf residents if and when a mass exodus occurs.

Moved to Colorado in 1999, it's ok. It is behind in the times as far as labor, but if you look at it's history you'll understand why. Big business contols everthing, has since Rockefeller murdered the striking miners with the blessing of the govenor at the time( women and children,also).
The state seems to not support small business either, there are plenty of franchises and hardly any mom and pop business's.And the states minimum wage is lower than the national minimum wage.
The most interesting fact about Colorado is it has the highest rate of MS in the country.

Hippy Dude, you need to get out of town more. Most of your negatives apply directly to Denver, not the rest of the state.

Most people who live in other areas, consider Denver a whole other state, where everything is backwards and all the streets are one way. Visit places like Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Boulder... you'll see mom & pop operations everywhere. Coloradan's despise "workin' for the man". The thing is, there's only like 2 or 3 Coloradans left in Denver. The rest are from Texas and California...

I sure hope it's far enough, since I live her and all!

Colorado seems as good a bet as any. There is the whole DIA underground base etc. so it's unlikely that Denver will be purposefully targeted by the PTB and it is geologically stable.

We may however be close to the Yellowstone show!

If I could be anywhere in the world where I would feel the safest, it would be down in the Four Corners Region.

Welcome to Colorado, alchemist! I moved here back in 2003, and don't regret it. Hopefully you had more reason to move here than to just get away from an event that'll end soon. Running away every time you face adversity doesn't make that strong a character. Sometimes you have to face the devil and beat him down.
