Exactly. The two live feeds are in my opinion not one and the same flow. One is coming from the cap where the pressure is high, however the feed of the more visible flow looks much larger in volume and density.

Perhaps by trying to cap the flow a crack in the seabed ruptured.

I hope i am wrong and they are one and the same.

Well to me i think they are the same flow, its just ROV1 is closer to the flow than ROV2.

Thats what it looks like to me anyway

Yeah i'm starting to think the same now that there is a lot of movement around it.

So they have contained it then. That's a relief!

You guys need to read the other threads, especially the one on 'up to the minute live feeds' There is stacks of info on what's happening.... They have NOT shut the leak off, they aren't hoping to just yet, and it was delayed due to seismic testing of the ocean floor. So that when they do try to shut it down, they can measure any movement of the seabed. Furthermore, there are 3 release pipes on the stack - The original outlet, now shut down and two others. One was the choke, which was leaking, so they have closed that to replace it with a different or repaired choke. The remaining outlet is what's spewing oil. It looks wild in some shots, because it's of a smaller bore and looks larger in some cos the ROV is closer to the plume!

Eventually once the choke is replaced, this will be the final outlet to be closed down, turn by turn, whilst they monitor all other outlets AND the seabed. If the choke holds, they will test periodically, depending on the fluctuations, if any, in the pressure - 9000psi is optimum, 3000psi means its leaking elsewhere.

Now, hopefully, you can wind this thread up and follow the one I mentioned, which seems to show all relevant info and is constantly updated. Otherwise, all we end up with is new threads which are already out of date from the start, as with matey boy who posted one saying the leak was secured, just because he'd heard the main stack outlet was not leaking oil!

Less knee jerk, more exploration!

Thanks for clearing up.

Ok so I’m looking at the live feed since the new cap supposedly stopped the leak then reopened (No one is sure why, perhaps pressure testing or another fail).

I am looking at this new flow and it seems like an eruption to me more than a flow.
Maybe my eyes deceive me but I honestly cannot see any man or machine stopping that.

I think it’s over. This will change everything (no overreaction).

Someone please prove to me that this was expected.

I can't watch that leak without thinking that the end of our reign on this planet is in sight.

See for yourself. My bet is that this, from today will not lessen.
If this thing blows then god help us all.

They tried to tap into a super volcano of oil and f***** up!

Take a look for yourself!!

did BP[ ever claim they had stopped the leak?

or did someone assume wrong?

I really don't know what to make of this it's really worrying

I don't care who it is: Buddha, Jesus Thoth, Superman or ET do something NOW!!!

Surly we've broken some sort of Prime directive??

My head can not comprehend the last resort in this situation it's like a world of fantasy but increasingly turning slowly into reality!

Got the screen shots for you.

I think the second picture looks worse because the rev is close to the plume if you look at the first picture you can see the rev is almost in the plume.
And its coming out of a smaller pipe that's my opinion anyway.

Thankyou

So glad you put the screen shots up. As you can see they are the same flow just one cam is closer to the flow making it look worst than it is

Um...nothing has been contained...nothing has stopped leaking. It has always been leaking and has never been shut off. They aren't even containing oil at the moment. Its just spewing all over the place and they are spraying a dispersant onto it as it spews. So if this is the "containment" they are talking about, then if anything its a fail.

Funny thing that...we been so wrapped up we or i forgot about how the oil is not been captured at all for a few days now.

Strange how one thing can take your mind off another.

Thankyou

I can hardly stand to look at the feed any longer - its worse than ever. We keep hearing on again off again situations - blah, blah, blah. I think they are so unsure they don't know what to do next and just keep feeding us a line of "we're testing this and that" BS. Absolutely no improvements and I am very concerned about the seafloor - a subject they barely touch on.

Again, you don't just shut it off in this case. Unless you'd like to blow the casing out of the hole for something truly spectacular to see.

Personally I doubt this thing is going to work. Even if you don't see the one plume here - I believe that it is still leaking all around it and this is just for show. Less dramatic.

The government has directed BP to do integrity testing before slamming it shut. Good idea, since the well doesn't have any integrity, and the board at BP already failed their integrity testing.
