Yeah, when I was poor(er) I would take my laptop to the malls food court. Which was near the Apple Store (Wifi)

I would get a Strawberry Milkshake (I am a sissy like that) from Carls Jr. (Hardee's for you Middle East Americans.) And enjoy the free internets, free AC, and free napkins!

we got the hottest july since decades. the winters are milder though, so no global warming protest here.

Yes, it does help, so does soaking your feet over the ankles in cold water. Because of the veins there.

Something else that will cut down on air conditioner costs, and for those that don't have air conditioners, is:

In the morning, or at night when the air is the coolest, CLOSE all your windows, and curtains. Keep the hot air outside, block the sun coming in the windows. It will be at least 10 to 20 degrees cooler in the house that way. Especially if your house is well insulated.

I know this works, because I used to live in the South Okanagan Valley, in BC, hottest place ever, 46 degrees celcius every summer most of the summer, that is 110 farenheit.

It's weird, on tv I see everone's windows open with the sun streaming in and they say they're hot. Of course they are, they're letting all the sun and hot air in.

I completely and utterly disagree. We've gotten a break in summer heat this year. I don't think in my 13 years of living in LA and the San Gabriel Valley have I ever seen it be mid-July without at least two weeks of 90 to 100 temps already. And its only supposed to be in the 80s this weekend.

Well your lucky. Its 11am and its 100 Deg out and supposed to reach 111 by early afternoon.

And like last night, which was around 9:30 PM, it was 102, and hopefully won't be the same tonight.

Thats just crazy.

Weird [snip] cool weather. I have been upset a couple of times (I hate the cold)

It has been "sweater weather" in the evenings/mornings since the end of summer last year. (Well since yesterday, it has been warm the last 2 days, probably that sun spot/flare/whatever thing that happened)

Now, while I LOVE the days. I could use some extra heat at night/morning.

Why don't you turn on some fans, and blow some of that hot air up here!

Pretty hot here in so dakota. In fact this is our 3rd heat wave.

To keep cool I wet a bandanna and wear it around my neck. When it gets warm or dries out re-wet it. You can also cool your face and arms with it.

I also use/carry a small "misting" spray bottle with cool water, and spray myself. very refreshing.

Sunscreen is thought to actually cause cancer. It does have some rather nasty chemicals. And as far as the UV protection for your eyes, I've read about scientists that believe the reason why eye sight is bad as of the last couple decades is because kids aren't getting enough natural sunlight, causing the eye to overdevelop and become misshaped.

It's important that kids get some sun on their skin so they can produce vitamin D. As long as people don't burn, everyone should be getting some sun unless it is your goal to become sick.

Dang, well here in Brawley Ca, it's desert, and let me tell you it is hot.
Its currently 108°F outside with 20% Humidity, and its already 8 PM.

I just wish it were fresh and in the 80's. But for that I gotta travel 2 hours to San Diego

So far in Vancouver BC the summer has been unusually cool with a couple of hot days about a week ago.

Interior B.C. Canada...wierd is all i can say. Past winter virtually no snow, very warm with rain, and I only shoveled 2 inches of snow twice??? I lost my winter work out(usually thats a twice a week shovelling and sometimes twice a day). I thought ouch, extreme fire season coming, and also city was saying no swimming pools or outdour ponds allowed to be filled... but late spring and early summer was alot cooler and wet, resevoir filled. Now in mid July, its 30*c, which is about average. I have enjoyed the weather for past year.
