Four bust in 'dirty bomb' sale sting

www.independentonsaturday.co.za

The high-risk operation by the Hawks' specialised tactical unit was carried out yesterday.

Police recovered some Caesium-137 contained in a protective cover, but admitted they had yet to find a larger device, which was set to be sold on the black market for R45 million.

This strikes me as very interesting news that is not currently in the western mainstream media. Basically a bunch of guys trying to sell nuclear material for a dirty bomb. I would be that this stuff was going to be sold to the Al Shabaab mujahedeen.

Anway guys, let me know if you find out any more info or have anything to add thanks!

Pretoria is in South Africas, not New Zealand.
The cops only got the small cesium 137 material, and have not found the larger nuclear device as yet....
There may not even be one...perhaps this was a con that they were pulling and they only had the one sample...

However thesetting is a good one for finding stary nuke material, a couple of countries in africa have uranium etc...im not surprised there would be criminal attempts to market the stuff.....

Came accross this article today, had to come staight to ATS to make sure everybody knew about it...and, here it is!
But, Why isn't there much attention be given to this event?
www.nationalterroralert.com...

Had to do a little bit of reaserch, caesium-137 is very dangerous, but is used in "Caesium has a variety of uses. In small amounts, it is used to calibrate radiation-detection equipment. It also has medical uses for cancer treatment, and is also used industrially in gauges for measuring liquid flow and materials thickness" - en.wikipedia.org...

What I like is the idea that a few african con men got their hands on a small amount of this material, and started trying to sell a supposed larger quantity or bomb "Police recovered some Caesium-137 contained in a protective cover, but admitted they had yet to find a larger device, which was set to be sold on the black market for R45 million." - from article above
At least I hope that's the scenario...they were just scammers...if not, then there is a nuke on the black market and authorities can't find it

The MSM is probably just slow on the pickup on this story. It is Sunday.

In the theory that they recycle news stories every time things in Iran start heating up, I've been waiting for the 2010 version of the 2007 missing nukes stories (not that there haven't been other years in other cycles, including the lead up to Iraq). This may be leading into that.

MSM only propagates fantasy yo push forward corporate agenda. They don't do "reality".

Caesium-137 is not used in nuclear bombs, so no "nukes" here. However, it is very "dirty" - meaning it can create quite a mess that would be very harmful to the environment and the people around where a bomb with this material in it exploded.
