Libyan ship to sail for Gaza

www.jpost.com

The Moldova-flagged cargo ship Amalthea will leave no later than Saturday from the port of Lavrio, south of Athens, carrying 2,000 tons of food and medical supplies, officials from the organization told The Associated Press. There will be 27 people on board.

Amalthea's journey to Gaza is expected to take up to 80 hours. Aid on the Amalthea included sacks of rice and sugar, and corn oil and olive paste mostly donated from Greek companies and charities, organizers said. The ship will also carry pro-Palestinian activists who are interested in breaking the blockade of Gaza.

Unfortunately it would seem that perhaps the Libyans do not actually have the stomach to go blockade busting! The next paragraph in the article says:

Israel "can check our cargo and certificates, of course they are free to do this," Jaziri said. "If we cannot deliver the aid, we will let (Israel) deliver it."

Strikes me that there is little point in promulgating this as a blockade bust if they are promising capitulation to Israel before they even leave!

I have just found another link with regard to this.

Israeli envoy to UN: 'prevent Libyan aid ship'

Israel on Friday has requested the UN step up efforts in preventing the Gaza-bound Lybian ship set to sail from Greece Friday.

I find this rather odd. The Libyan vessel has indicated willingness to comply yet Israel is getting rattled? Why is this?

They go on to say:

"The declared intentions of this mission are even more questionable and provocative given the recent measures taken by Israel to ensure the increase of humanitarian aid flowing into the Gaza Strip," Shalev stated in the letter.

If the Libyans said they will allow the Israelis to inspect, how is this provocative? Are they just spoiling for a fight perhaps? What do people think?

Hopefully this is what will happen.

1. The ship will cooperate with the Israelis.

2. The aid on the ship goes to the people of Gaza.

This way, everybody wins. Israel does not have to feel its security is being compromised and the people of Gaza get the support they need.

Hmm. I read the other day that now that Turkey is on the outs with Israel, Israel's been forging new alliances with Egypt and Greece.

Libya and Iran are tight...so I guess we just wait to see. Libya saying they'll let Israel deliver it is smart. No sense in confrontation if the end mission is accomplished, and also, let the world watch Israel deliver the relief.

Maybe Israel is shaken up because the ship is sailing from Greece, its new ally. Maybe they're wondering who they can really count on here. But oh, the irony of Israel appealing to the UN. Just insane.

Yes, I read that about Israel the other day as well and was a bit surprised about Egypt. I am not sure if the Iranians still have anything on the way but a three way meet Libya / Turkey / Iran could be interesting!

If the purpose of the ship is to reach Gaza than it will reach Gaza for sure. If the purpose is other , like be the pretext of a conflict that will follow than that's what will be.

The ship comes in the behalf of Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation, organization chaired by the son of Gaddafi , who is very close friend with Nathaniel Rothschild .

Two kids born in feathers that were the primary clients of drug dealers on the streets of switzerland...

Also Gaddafi's son was seen many times in Rothschild villa in Corfu , Greece.

So be sure that anything that will happen with this shipment is meant to happen and planned thoroughly in advance
