New Video Enhancement of The 1998 "Somerset" UFO Footage

LunaCognita enhanced and stabilized the famous 1998 "Somerset" UFO video and i'm posting this for anyone that might be interested in seeing the video and the briliant work he did to it. the original un-enhanced version was so shaky and double imaged it was difficult to even look at the object but as you will see this stabilization helped to improve the viewability of the footage.

As always, the enhancements shown here were built from the highest quality copy of the source footage that I was able to obtain. Unfortunately in this case, I was not able to acquire a complete unedited copy of the raw Somerset footage to work with, and it is my understanding that Mr. Dickinson is no longer in possession of the original raw tape. This forced me to use a segmented copy taken from a UFO documentary in which the raw footage had already been broken apart and edited into several short highlight clips. This fact has most definitely negatively influenced the quality and quantity of visual data available for enhancement.

As you will see, the raw footage of this UFO encounter clearly suffers from significant camera shake/instability issues. In fact, I have to say that this is the shakiest, most unstable UFO video footage I have ever personally analyzed. These already brutal instability issues are further magnified by the fact that the raw copy of the footage I was forced to use as the Alpha source file appears to have been subjected to some level of video compression, which, thanks to the brutal amount of shake, creates significant interpolation blurring and frame "ghosting" being introduced/amplified. This effect is blatantly apparent in every copy of this Dickinson/Somerset UFO footage I have ever seen, and the copy I used as the Alpha source file for this presentation is no exception, with a high number of raw frames showing both the actual UFO as well as a second "ghost" of the UFO visible in the same frame, offset 180 degrees opposite of the direction of shake travel.

Just to give you a better idea of how detrimental this ghosting effect was to the stabilization process here, in the segments of footage I show labelled as "Sequence#1" and "Sequence#4", roughly 50% of the frames had to be eliminated from the stabilization process due to being ruined by blurring and/or ghosting effects. "Sequence#3" was even worse, with close to 70% of the raw frames being garbage and unusable for the same reasons. Still, even with those significant negative factors working against the stabilizing process, I still considered this footage interesting enough to warrant the effort involved in trying to improve the viewability of the scene.

Well, that looks alot similiar to what I have seen myself. The question I have t ask is if they are indeed ours, meaning if they are built by hu-man why are we not told about this technology? do you see where I am coming from? why keep it a secret? because of all the secrecy, one can only assum 2 things:

1. They are not ours and indeed we share this earth with other entities.

2. They are ours and they are used for agendas that only a select few are told about.

Either way I just want to know what I have seen so I can put it to bed its been a long time and we deserve to know the truth.

I assume, from your comments about thinking that Rod Dickinson no longer has the original footage (which, incidentally, may well have changed), that you have seen that previous thread.

However, for the benefit of anyone reading this new thread, I think it worth highlighting some of the information I posted there:

(1) The Rod Dickinson mentioned in connection with this video is the same Rod Dickinson that is extremely well known for hoaxing crop-circles and UFOs. He is really quite well known in certain circles (no pun intended). As I mentioned in the older discussion, I had an email exchange with Rod a couple of years ago and confirmed that it is the same person.

(2) Rod has considerable expertise in multimedia and video artwork.

He is a practicing multimedia artist whose artwork mostly takes the form of video installations and live events. (3) Several of the UFO/alien videos and photos that regularly appear on ATS can be traced back (with a bit of effort) to hoaxers/artists that are openly involved in groups that create crop circles.

Hoaxing isn't always a solitary hobby...

thanks for your mail. i did take the footage some 10 years ago. for what it is worth it is not hoax - at least one other person i met saw the thing while i was filming it. i think others saw it too. obviously i don't think it's an alien spacecraft/ ufo.

does that prove it's not a hoax ? no it doesn't but nobody has yet offered a plausible explanation other than words that debunks the video.

Well, I don't think it is a merely a coincidence that the footage was provided by a known hoaxer/artist...

So, I think that a presentation of the video that omits to mention the facts known about the person that provided the footage is, um, incomplete.

As for Rod's denial of a "hoax", well, we have to be careful about the words used here.... Quite a few of the crop-circle hoaxers/artists say they are creating "artwork" rather than a hoax.

Plus, not all hoaxers readily admit their work - although over the years I've been surprised how many have gleefully talked about how they created their hoax/art when I approached them.

In short : in you want to spend time nailing down this video that is absolutely fine with me. I've spent quite a bit of time myself in nailing down the precise history behind some of the more infamous photos of "aliens" and videos of "ufos" - even when many others have dismissed the photos and videos as obvious fakes. I have been particularly interested in identifying the individuals that produced the hoax and their motivations. However, I've found that once you've identified the probable hoaxer, you can't really get much further unless the hoaxer confesses.

Nothing, I'm afraid. I don't know of any such involvement.

I have a vague recollection of Rod indicating that he was going to chase the Science Museum (in London) to return the original footage. So, I thought he might actually have it back by now.

another one that's too short to tell anything

Seems believable.

It reminds me of an unknown object I saw once, that flew directly into a large storm cloud.

The movement is similar, but the shape is different. What I saw looked like a helicopter, but I was confused because it was silent. I decided to just say "Looks like a helicopter, so it was a helicopter."

I understand that atmospheric conditions can make something like that be audibly silent. It was just a little strange to see an object with that kind of movement and no sound. I'm guessing the pressure differential from the storm may have kept the whirring noise you would typically get from a helicopter, from reaching me.

Occam's razor, I don't see a reason this couldn't be a man made object, balloon, blimp, typical aircraft at an odd angle.

While at the same time, I never got a positive confirmation of identity for the object I saw, and neither has anyone for this sighting.

Most likely man-made, but the possibility for non-man made isn't zero. I hold judgment until we finally, publicly, get our hands on a non-man made craft.
