You say it's ancient mumbo jumbo but I'll tell you this. If you ever saw the movie Stigmata well, Patricia Arquette's character in that movie has nothing on me.

You might be cursed, what do I know?

Most people find it comforting in a way to know there is a reason for the bad things that happen to them and find power in being able to blame something other than themselves.

I'm not saying it's you're fault that your life hasn't been a charmed one, but it is your fault if you believe you're cursed and become resigned to your fate.

Psychologists believe in something called a self-fulfilling prophecy. If people say you're stupid enough, even if you're not, you'll start to believe it yourself and become stupid. You'll do bad on a test and say, "it's OK, I'm just stupid". You'll study less and say, "what's the point? I'm too stupid".

However, you need to rise above this belief that you're cursed and use it to motivate yourself to work to better your situation. I know it seems hard when everything seems to be working against you and it is hard. Things that are worth it almost always are hard. If something seems easy, it's likely the wrong solution.

You may live in a bad neighborhood. You're friends and family might take the easy way out. They may slack off at school or turn to drugs and alcohol. You, however, need to take the hard route. You need to stay straight and work hard at school to make a better life for yourself despite the pressures you might feel to give in. You'll rise above those around you and have a better life.

The good news is that, since you're close to the bottom, the only way to go is up.

Ah to be 13 again... Those were the days...Those were the days!!! *Continued old man mumblings* Ah I'm only 30 but I'd give almost anything to be 13 again.

Anyway...

Remember that there are many, many children in the world who have it MUCH WORSE than you.

I don't want to scare you, but I know enough that I say you're relatively fortunate. There are kids who unclog sewers in India by swimming in the pipes, for God's sakes.

Are you lonely? Loneliness can manifest your negativity in a big way. Like another poster suggested... A nice girlfriend (or boyfriend) is wonderful to have.

You have to be your own man (or woman lol)

If you read carefully, you should have known that I have paranoia. My paranoia actually developed a few years ago when I was taken away from my mom (its a long story) and had to live with my dad. I was so scared of him because he would come home drunk every night, I began to stop trusting people. The paranoia took a couple of years to sink in, but now its very prominent. That works itself into this equation because now I cant gather up the confidence to ask this boy out (yes I am a girl).

I know all too well that having a boyfriend would probably be the best conclusion, but that second-handedly came with the package.

That's what I told myself two years ago. Then my brother passed.

I always try to tell myself that, but deep inside, I know it could, matter of fact, be much worse. I know all too well that there are many more people who have it worse than me. Tell you the truth, if I had a million dollars, I would give basically all of it to charities.

Trust me, I've tried that. The "bad" list was much easier than the "good" list.

You read that one sentence with the tragic things that have happened to me, and you don't think of it much, just a little sentence written by a selfish girl looking for sympathy, right? In real life, that list could be extended to lengths you wouldn't even think could happen in 13 years. And I don't exaggerate, I promise. I didn't want to go too much in detail because I didn't want to sound too pitiful. I have depression, although if you met me you wouldn't be able to sense it because I'm excellent at holding it all inside.

Your family split up, your dog died, you have paranoia, and your family struggles with money? Congratulations, you just described 50% of America!

I hate to break it to you, but you're not cursed.

I wish people would stop believing the number 13 is a bad luck number. The only reason it got that because the Templar knights all got killed on Friday the thirteenth.

I sometimes wonder the same though if my life is cursed. But I think it is just a part of life. I keep on headed towards the word Karma. Karma can even transfer from a past life experience into this life.
