The U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) is a military unit subordinated to the U.S. Strategic Command, created in 2009 and officially activated this year
at Fort Meade, Maryland (considered one of the military’s most secretive and secure facilities).
The declared mission is: “USCYBERCOM plans, coordinates, integrates, synchronizes and conducts activities to: direct the operations and defense of
specified Department of Defense information networks and; prepare to, and when directed, conduct full spectrum military cyberspace operations in order
to enable actions in all domains, ensure US/Allied freedom of action in cyberspace and deny the same to our adversaries.”
The Cyber Command is composed of several service components: Army Forces Cyber Command, Fleet Cyber Command, 24th Air Force and Marine Corps.
The command’s logo contains a text or code: “9ec4c12949a4f31474f299058ce2b22a”, maybe the MD5 hash of their mission statement.
It seems that nobody knows for sure what the code means, or so it seems. Lt. Cmdr. Steve Curry declared “it’s definitely the mission statement.
What part of the mission statement: That’s what I’m waiting to find out on from the people who designed it.”
