A Georgia man went on a rampage yesterday at a Walmart outside of Atlanta, smashing dozens of flat-screen televisions with a baseball bat he found in the store.

The man, 23-year-old Westley Strellis, bashed in 29 flat-screen televisions worth $22,000, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He was charged with a whopping 29 counts of criminal damage to property.

So he goes to the Wall Mart, gets a base ball bat from inside the Wall Mart, goes to the TV section and starts bashing them one by one.

The mysterious thing about it is that no one know why:

Strellis invoked his Fifth Amendment right to stay mum, so his motive remains a mystery. According to the police report, when officers arrived on the scene, Strellis was sitting in an aisle in the store's electronics department. When approached, he held out his wrists, signaling for the officer to handcuff him. Police found a bottle of Effexor XR, an anti-depressant, in Strellis's possession.

Why?

What did he have against the TV?

This kind of incidents just makes me wonder.

I once believe the TV was Khardijal, if anyone has heard of that name, it is suppose to have one eye, and can give you what ever you want if and only if you submit to it.

If you discribe TV in layman terms, it would be very similar to Khardijal's discription, maybe this guy finally realized.

maybe his idea of "sticking it to the man" but really, he will end up paying for the damages, and if he can't, Wal-Mart is insured. Very ineffective way to convey a message IMO.

Maybe he didn't like the weatherman's description of the heat wave, who knows, all that is for sure in this incident is:

You do not go into a store and smash a bunch of high ticket items and expect to get out of it without being arrested/charged/fined/imprisoned etc. A lot of people are on antidepressants and they don't go around destroying property wantonly..

There is more to this story, we will just have to wait until lit comes out.

With their own money

If the guy can not pay, and they can not get the money from the state somehow, I believe they would be stuck with the bill.

Why would a super giant like Walmart need insurance??

Right on! Everyone should do this at home. I have found it quite satisfying myself. There was no television in my house until my children were teens. They came out better for it I believe.
What better tool than TV for the PTB to control us all?
As for who pays I really don't care - Walmart should be dismantled. That one company has done more to destroy small businesses in America than any other.

The fact that he was carrying a prescription bottle WITH him leads me to believe he must have taken SOMETHING. It may have been his medicine, or he used his medicine bottle to carry OTHER pills or a substance. I think its obvious that the guy is mentally ill, but I would love to know why he did it.

Last night Comedy Central re-ran the "Heart of Wall Mart" South Park episode.

I was watching it wondering if any kids or mental patients would actually run to the TV section and start looking for the "heart."

I guess this answers my question.

This report says he is suffering from depression.

www.ajc.com...

It goes further to explain what can happen with some people taking the particular type of medication they found in his pocket.

Patients who use the drug should "be watched for becoming agitated, irritable, hostile, aggressive, impulsive, or restless," according to the Web site of the drug maker.

It also appears he is an artist. In the next link, you can see some of his art work.

This is what he has to say about his work in the bio.

I like to draw because it makes me happy. I enjoy creating beautiful
things.

Apparently, he was in a bad mood that day!

Large companies like that don't have insurance .... err at least not like they pay a company for it, they are usually self insured.

Just the other day I asked my brother when the hungry and penniless would begin the jailhouse vacations. Seems like it has possibly begun.

Let us see, 3 meals and a place to sleep.

Possible reasoning. Or is their a conspiracy about the HD screens we do not know about. I was thinking that the new 3D screens would have that conspiracy.

Ever see the scene in Serenity? Maybe it was something playing?

Crazy man is crazy.

I suppose it would have been fun to smash some TV's. Would have been better if they were the old CRT type or at list something a little more "shattery".

The man was probably on some type of medication.

Based on what I saw in the video, he meant no person any harm, only the teleivisions.

I think that he's probably depressed, possibly down on his luck and figured going to jail or
doing this to get "professional" help, was his only option.

Maybe he lost his, job, home etc, and jail was the better option for him?

Just a thought.

Who knows. Maybe he was just having a really bad day. Maybe a TV he bought from WalMart blew up and they wouldn't let him exchange it and told him he had to ship it back to the manufacturer and he got angry.

Before I even came in here, just upon seeing the thread title, my guess was a problem with his meds. Interesting that they put Effexor in the story, eh?

And here again, a media out of control. If you commit a crime, upon arrest (innocent until proven insane or guilty?) you give up all your rights to privacy.

He's not much of an "artist". He draws at about the 6th grade level. In addition to depression, it's likely that he may suffer from some sort of developmental disability as well.

There's a lot to be frustrated about out there. I'm actually surprised stuff like this doesn't happen more often. Maybe it does, and just doesn't make the news.

A few years ago we heard a great deal about "road rage", so perhaps the time of "Walmart Rage" is upon us.

His prescription medicines could have cause it as shown in the side effects menu.

So if it was his own prescription drug then why didn't he tell the authorities therefore not get convicted of over 20 criminal damage to property [charges], and not to mention paying over 22,000 dollars.

Unless he was carrying other drugs in his prescription bottle, but what type of drug would wanna make you go to wall mart, to the sport section, grab a baseball bat, and then go to the TV section and bash each one?

The one I know, would be "P".

Was he carrying "P" in the bottle?

Where was his glass pipe? Where did he smoke it?

Once again, the mystery gets to me.

im willing to bet it was the meds. i've taken effexor xr. it caused me to have some really crazy and inappropriate urges. for example, one night out of the blue i just got this random urge to steal my parents car and go joy riding...i've never drove a day in my life. i just got a crazy impulse to do that because of the pills...those meds do some really strange things to people. i think that he should make sure that authorities are aware of the meds and what they can do to people...it could help explain his crazy behaviour.
