Illegal Immigration Costs U.S. $113 Billion a Year, Study Finds

www.foxnews.com

The cost of harboring illegal immigrants in the United States is a staggering $113 billion a year -- an average of $1,117 for every “native-headed” household in America -- according to a study conducted by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

The study, a copy of which was provided to FoxNews.com, “is the first and most detailed look at the costs of illegal immigration ever done,” says Bob Dane, director of communications at FAIR, a conservative organization that seeks to end almost all immigration to the U.S.

The most important finding of the study is the enormous cost to state and local governments due to lack of enforcement of our immigration laws,” Martin wrote.

[The report found that the federal government paid $28.6 billion in illegal related costs, and state and local governments paid $84.2 billion on an estimated 13 million undocumented residents. In his speech, Obama estimated that there are 11 million.]

OK, And Obamas Administration is Suing Arizona because,
What, we are tired of paying the bills?

As of this posting the US has spent $1 trillion dollars:

$732,041,477,418 Iraq
$281,859,563,736 Afghan

costofwar.com...

if the US reduced 10% of our war efforts that would solve the immigrant crisis, save some lives and make the US more neighborly.

Cheers

The worst part about this is that WE ARE PAYING FOR THEM.

Instead of using the money we give them on reforms, the government is paying immigrates $10,000 a pop to start their new life here once they become a citizen. They're ILLEGAL ALIENS! Basically, we're giving $10,000 to anyone who decides to commit a crime!

We could be using this money for something useful; what we pay taxes for. Look at the Gulf! We NEED this to be fixed, people could start DIEING from the toxic fumes, yet the government believes its more important to make sure people who come here illegally get their ten.

GEESH!

Their not immigrants, their illegals and it's not an Issue it's an Invasion.

War has always been expensive. In human life and money.
Cuting back 10% is not going to do anything, the politticians would just spend that money on a turtle or fish or weed or some bug that needs to be saved.

Has anyone looked at those two links above in the thread? Do you know or better yet, do you care what you are paying in your State for the Illegals?

Are you factoring your numbers off a yearly basis or the fact that we've been "at war" for nearly 10 years. Not only that but keep in mind not all that money is "waste" as compared to illegal immigration. 1 trillion divided by 10 is about 100billion.

Illegal immigration kills more US citizens a year than the war last I checked.

All I am saying is we are wasting money to occupy foreign countries for their resources when it could be better spent dealing with problems at home.

Lady Liberty still means something to me. Illegal immigration is a problem because wealthy Americans will pay immigrants under the table to stay wealthy instead of following the damn laws of this nation.

You tell the citizens to stop supporting the immigrants and there will no incentive for them to come here. This is not a problem that the government is causing, it is our American brothers and sisters causing this issue.

I bet it's way more than that...of course there are always issues of methodology with this kind of study...but are they factoring in the costs of the extra heroin addiction and death that the porous border gifts us with?

One reason they are so frequently saying "Mexicans do the jobs Americans don't want to take" is that many of the younger working-class Americans who would take those lousy jobs have already died of heroin overdoses ...I would like to see one of these exciting statistical studies addressing that aspect...

Another GOP fail. The 'illegals' getting educated are mostly US citizens.. or are we supposed to believe these k-12 kids hopped the fence somewhere?

Remember anchor babies..?

Read the article and you'll see they admit they're actually citizens.

From the source:

Groups that support immigration reform immediately attacked FAIR's report and pointed out that it is the polar opposite of the Perryman Report, a 2008 study that found illegal immigration was actually a boon to the American economy. It estimated that illegal immigrants add $245 billion in Gross Domestic Product to the economy and account for 2.8 million jobs.

Makes sense to me. You've gotta live. That means food, rent, utilities, etc.

Legal citizens to parents and families that are primarily illegal. They dont pay taxes therefore they are leeching off the american system and the harm is being done by illegal immigrants.

Put fair tax into play and lets see how much revenue is brought in from these "legal illegals".

nine-eyed-eel, WOW, now that's a thought so many of the peoples here refuse to think about. All you'll here is Legalize Drugs, Stop The war On Drugs. That way you can sell your product to our young people easier?

Well, I say, kill any one connected to the drug cartel and burn the drugs.
The illegals draining our financial system are a huge problem and legalizing drugs are not the answer, So nine-eyed-eel, good reply, thank you.

There is no Constitutional authorization for the "War on Drugs".

The entire idea is laughable at best, criminal at worst.

Legalization is an economically, and more importantly, constitutionally sound idea.
