Yesterday, my dad and I went to Barnes&Nobles. I went straight to the metaphysics section, to read up on Astral Dynamics. I read about 45 min. worth of the book (I was reading what I thought was interesting/important). Fast forward to bedtime. I went to bed last night around 10:30, I woke up around 2:00 am, because I thought I just had an OBE. The OBE was wierd, it wasn't like I would expect it to be, I obviously wasn't practicing for it because I was sleeping by then. I woke up (or I guess you could say my mind woke up), just as I was projecting. I could feel my arm joints being pressed down, that's, when my body locked up or I entered the paralysis state. I was laying on my back at this time, so when I rolled out, I rolled over to my left side and out a few feet from my bed, then I immediately woke up from the unexpectedness of the situation. One thing I should mention is that I was not able to see, or, it was because the house was pitch black.

The reason why I'm skeptical of this being a real OBE is, I was by this time fast asleep, and I've heard that you normally project every night, so wouldn't this mean by 2:00 am I would've already projected? Another thing is, I felt uncertain about the validity of the OBE about half an hour after I experienced it, I don't know why I just did.

They call this sleep paralysis.

It used to happen to me a lot. Especially when I was in college and not sleeping much. The first time it happens is very scary. I thought I was dying the first time. After awhile , you get used to it. You get good at "pulling" yourself back together. That is what it feels like. Like you are seperated from your body.

Very strange indeed.

This was definitely not sleep paralysis, even though I was paralyzed. I sensed myself outside of my body, because I was able to sense that I was floating on the left side of my bed for a few seconds and then I woke up. Oh, and I was emotionless during, the event but after it, I became very excited, because I thought I had just had my first OBE.
