Airplanes are not built at Area 51. They are built by various manufacturers around the country and transported to Nevada by truck or inside cargo
planes and reassembled at the test site.
Airplanes and missiles tested at Area 51 include:
Lockheed U-2 low-speed, high-altitude spy plane
Lockheed A-12 high-speed, high-altitude spy plane
Lockheed YF-12A interceptor based on A-12 design
Lockheed M-21 mothership (based on A-12 design) for D-21 drone
Lockheed D-21 unmanned reconnaissance drone, launched from M-21
Lockheed D-21B, drone redesigned for launch from B-52H
McDonnell Douglas AQUILINE unmanned aerial vehicle
Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-17, a Russian fighter plane (Foreign Materiel Evaluation)
Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-21, a Russian fighter plane (Foreign Materiel Evaluation)

Obviously, this is not a complete list. There have been other manned and unmanned aircraft flown at Groom Lake that have yet to be revealed. The SR-71
was tested at Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, California, and at nearby Edwards Air Force Base. I didn't include the "Aurora" because it appears to
be nothing more than a myth.
