I was more or less an agnostic, former atheist, and had gotten sick from e. coli, from a surgical slice of my colon that went unnoticed.
After lingering for three weeks, the first week nearly untreated at all, except for pain meds, there was a fire in my town, and in anticipation of
large numbers of victims (it was at a jail), they transferred me to a large city hospital about 60 miles from that town.
When I got there by ambulance, the docs and nurses came in and opened my newest surgical incision and terrible things happened. So traumatic and
awful that while they cleaned the wound, the nurses and other younger docs held down my hands and feet, without warning me. The shock of it all and
my horror and pain must be why I kind of lost it and stretched away towards the darker side of the hospital room where there was an empty bed.
I am completely serious. I called out "Help me, Jesus," and I never would have said anything like that, especially in front of other people. It
was so old-fashioned, and what did I know about Him anyway, really? But they all let go.
Later, the docs told me they didn't expect me to live even one day after I arrived, since the blood tests showed my counts were all extreme, all in
the wrong ways, way too much of this, not nearly enough of that, so each day, I had heard the numbers as they watched me.
Before I got there, I had already had jaundice and pneumonia, and this was after a minor surgery, the day before which I was applying for a new job
and running around taking care of business, having just given birth four weeks or so before.
But I survived, and I give all the credit to Jesus Christ, because never had I prayed, the whole time I was sick. Never had I called out something
like that, and was very shy as well, lol.
It was like He was in that dark corner, and poked me to force the words out of my lips. It just didn't come from my own mind, I know that. I was in
a state of near-hysteria and shock as they did their terrible work.
But they all just stopped and let go of me, and I just got a little better every day, until one day I finally used the walker they had brought me, and
ended up "making a break for it." Just trying to get to a door to feel the air on my face, lol.
They removed the walker and wheeled me back, lol. But here I am today. Furthermore, I am no longer in constant pain, although I was for 9 long
years.
I believe He deadened some of the nerves in my abdomen, and I do not take anything but vitamins. Can you believe it?
It took NINE years for me to ask Him to heal me again, and to believe that He could, and that He would.
