I don't care what political party you are affiliated with, nor for that matter what you see as the future of this country. Right now we are seen as a weak, bullying, on the verge of economic collapse, and a prime target, by many other countries on this planet. I have many issues with the current administration, the previous administration, and the government as a whole. I have had these issues for a long, long time. The main thing to remember is our Government is not truly a representation of our county, we are. We, the ones that question. The ones that always look for ways and try to express ways to make our county better. Those of us who believe in Freedom, freedom of speach, freedom of thought, and the freedom to defend ouselves. These are the gifts that our forefathers gave us. Our founders foresaw the attacks on a truly free country from outside and within, and did their damndest, to make sure we had the tools to deal with both when they occured. Our founders had the brass ba%%s, to leave their home countries and come to a place where they could actually promote freedom for themselves and their families. And then they fought to the death to make those dreams a reality.
No, the history of our country is not perfect, but it was based on the idealism of freedom.
This fourth, do not wave the flag for your government, wave it for yourself, your neighbors, and for all those who are still able to write in to ATS. Wave the flag for freedom! Play music, good and loud that supports America as a whole. Buy extra fireworks this year. Go all out to show the rest of the world "No I, don't necessarily support my government, but we are the true rulers of our country! We are the free, we are the brave, We are AMERICA, AND DAMN PROUD!!!!!!!!!

Not much to be proud of right now - go throw those bums out of your govt, and people might begin to respect the US again - its the time for torches, pitchforks and guillotines.

I noticed you used "guillotines" are you in france? Bastille day is possibly the closest thing to our fourth. Which seriously maked a great time in your history where the people revolted. Not quite sure where France is now, considering they have mass protests for having to work over 35 hours a week and can't retire at fifty. Whether you are french or not. The majority of the rest of the countries on earth are far too reliant on their governments. The Fourth of July in our country is based on the greatest anti-government revolution of all time. One that in fact created a whole new country. It is litteraly a celebration of revolution and freedom. Where ever you are in the world, I hope you celebrate with us on the fourth, celebrating a day that the people revolted, moved, and created their own country. Unlike many other American's I have a very soft spot for the French, and for that matter any country who is not only famed for but continues to celebrate revolution, and freedom. We are all in a mess right now, and I doubt any one government on this planet right now is actually following the will of its people. We the people of America and the people of the world, need to cellebrate freedom, and historic revolution, every chance we get.

Follow up. All the governments of the world are scared to death of their people. I think this case is more so in the United States. For the simple fact that our founders, gave as much power as they could to the people. The line the government walks is very thin, and may eventually break once the haze of apathy is slowly blown away by the wind of thought.

I wish I could muster up some national pride like you.

Unfortunately the 4th of July has turned out to be just like every other holiday for me.

Just an excuse for someone to try and sell me something (fireworks) I don't really need at an over inflated price.

I hope everyone uses the opportunity to come together with friends and family, enjoy each others company, and remember that it is these fleeting moments of closeness and brotherhood that really matter in life.

Celebrate each other and toast those who have sacrificed remembering that all men who have fallen in service of this country did so with the purest intentions. They did so to preserve the livelihoods of their family and friends, and I can see no better way to honor them than to celebrate the two.

If you can't be proud for how things are now?
Be proud for how they once were...
Then, let that pride inspire you to go out and do some good, make some changes, if even only for the day...

Here's me little bit of trying to do something good...

Please DON'T let the video picture fool you, it's a beautiful tune...

This rendition of ''America, in my opinion, is the most beautiful version I've heard in, well, almost forever.

And may we all find a little bit of peace on the 4th and every day after.

God Bless

To the United States of America;

I still think that we owe you an immeasurable debt
For not being the Soviet Union
And for standing in the way when the Soviet Union was still around.

So God bless you anyway.

What can we do in return? Would you like a few crates of steak-and-kidney pudding?

dreamwalker I'm like you

I don't blame the PTB as much as I blame us for not being twitchier when it comes to what freedom is and how to keep it

SO LIVE FREE OR DIE ! we e can't just say o well they win without a fight look at that woman in Myanmar who's been in jail for speaking out against her fascist government

We should all go to the Arizona and Protect what we have!

Happy Fourth

Wanna know why wars are being fought to make the world safe for
democracy? Because democracy is just another ocracy and that's the
shameful truth about democracy. It's all just hypocrisy man, and
democracy is just good propaganda for the aristocracy, don't you see?
Oh say can you see those pale skinned pop stars draped in red white
and blue coo cooing and caw cawing seductively saying "rock the vote"?
Look and see by the dawns early light how self proclaimed Madonna's
pretending social awareness in pitch perfect note. Because that's the
aristocracy doing their level best to convince you this is a democracy
and if they can convince you of that then they can convince you that
millions of tyrants are better than one. Because that's the mediocracy
of a public who's rejected a republic for which nobody stands anymore
because we just can't stand to not fit into the group for then we
would be alone and just none. That's right, take a good look at how
proudly we hail at our own twilight and the very last gleaming while
we march down the road towards gallantly streaming tyranny. Watch
closely as the rockets red glare singes our soul and we cower as the
bombs bursting in air convince us we're all just puppets of parody.

Wanna know why wars are being fought to make the world safe for
democracy? Because when we're at war we have a common enemy and ain't
nothing like commonality when we got enemies. Ain't nothing like
enimas when we are all so uptight about enemies. Ain't no brotherhood
as long as we got enemies and when there ain't no brotherhood then we
remain divided. But that ain't no worry who needs brotherhood when
everyone in the neighborhood gets all things provided? Who needs
freedom when all of us can plunder? Who needs a bunch of rights when
the system is going asunder?

Who needs to wonder when there are those who will wonder for us and it
is wise and profound to praise the powers that be? Oh say can't you
see? Ain't no freedom that comes from a vote! Ain't no wisdom that
comes from a quote! If we are free then we are free and if we are not
then what have we got? If we have rights then it is right and if we
are wrong then it's best that we forgot. Why should we remember the
blood spilled for our luxury if fighting for freedom means we can no
longer be creatures of comfort? Who should we remember while we're
comfortably numb and who cares about those who long since died in some
fort?

Wanna know why a republic fights wars to make the world safe for
democracy? Because the republic is gone and freedom is just another
word for good credit ratings and 401k's. Because voting for the lesser
of two evils is how we tell ourselves we've done what we can and said
our okay's. Because purple mountain majesties was traded for purple
rain and amber waves of grain was used to make single malt scotch.
Because our spacious skies are falling and climate change can't spare
a dime which wouldn't buy a cup of coffee so we watch. We watch like
we're Rolex and we listen like we're ipods and we feel our pain like
its velvet pain. We buy what we can because that's patriotic and when
we've used what we've bought we flush it all down the drain. We drive
like we're driven and we brag about hard drives but we won't drag
freedom into it any longer because in polite company we talk about
money. It's okay to talk about politics, that is if you're clever and
everyone thinks it so droll and so funny. So, we fight wars and we
solemnly shake our heads sadly for the dead who fought vainly for
democracy because its a sacred duty to live in open hypocrisy. This is
why we fight wars and this is why we want to make the world safe for
democracy.

Who pays attention to time when you're in the middle of a rant? Who worries about rhyme when you're obsessing with things that you can and you can't? Who cares about rhythm when your fighting that great schism, and who cares about reason when stuck in that patriotic season? Ain't no reason or rhyme to the crime of treason or passage of time. Just the sad dehumanization of effortless alienation in this place we call a great nation. Here's to our ascendance on this day of independence, down with the tyrants, let's all be aspirants to freedom and gleedom, hip, hip, hooray!

why be proud of a nation that was founded on conquest and murder? Who SHOULD rule America? Surely it should be indigenous americans?
I wish they would revolt against the invasion and send the US citizens back home.
