Is it possible to no longer Sin???

Of course this comes from a Christian context ...being that Xtianity is the main "Sin" based religion.

In Xtianity ....one is called to stop sinning, and even a dirty thought, lie, etc etc is a sin.

So is it possible to reach such a state? I dont mean past sins, cause we've all sinned eventually ... I mean reach a point, were its not being done.

Like for example ...in the 10-15 seconds that you took to read this ....you didn't sin. So can this span be extended to days, months, years, rest of one's life?

no were humans and we will always sin.

Just my thought if I do not believe then I do not sin!...........so therefore no possible sin here!!

In my opinion, sin is a value judgement, not a real state..one man's sin is another man's virtue.

I was told by a Jehovah Witness that if its even just in your mind your sinning. So i told him he might as well leave because every time i look at a woman I'm sinning.

The standard answer in most denominations (based partly on bitter experience) is "No". I think John Wesley would have said "Yes", and the idea is one strand in Methodist tradtion. I doubt it myself.

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.-1John3.9

Well, we are born with the original SIN, which is DEATH!
Is it possible to escape DEATH?
No!
Is it possible to sin no more?
Well,Yes and No!
We all fight with temptations...we all are tempted with various things in our daily lives,therefore we should avoid those that control us!
Failure to recognise that we are controlled,becomes a sin!
Forgiveness leads to humility...it also makes us less likely to judge others and look at our own sins(mistakes-missing the mark)and fixing that!

When Jesus Christ was crucified and Resurrected, He destroyed DEATH...the body will corrupt and become as the earth,but the Soul shall live on where it will await the day of Judgment!
DEATH was the result of the Original sin...the break away from the Lord God.
''Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin''.
Rom 3:20

Since we are all in the know of DEATH...we cannot escape it..we all DIE!
''For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord''.
Rom 6:23 ....Gods Mercy is what we should seek for!
Many such examples of Gods Mercy are found in the New Testament of the Parables!

if it is for the cleansing of one's conscience, then it has to be a one-time, good-forever thing, right??

because if it weren't, what would be the point, anyway?

the bible also says that Jesus was "without sin" when he died.
this is because he took his turn getting dunked in the Jordan, by his cousin John.

the idea that Jesus wasn't a so-called sinner can't be theologically correct if Mary was his mother - because the bible plainly says that everyone born of a woman is born a sinner.

his daddy may be GOD, but his mother was still a woman.

and whether or not she was a virgin doesn't really change things because the holy spirit, being dis-carnate, could not have had what many probably consider to be "sinful" sex - that is, with the usual corresponding but opposite male and female parts!

AND, if Jesus were not born as human as the rest of us, susceptible to all foibles of the flesh and what-have-you, then nothing he did would have helped us, anyway.

so how was Jesus "without sin"?

i think that people's preoccupation with sin prevents them from seeking GOD, face to face, within. they maintain a guilty conscience simply because they think about, and subsequently worry over, SIN.

the bible says this, too.

and if GOD wants us to approach him without fear, the guilty conscience thing is a huge barrier!
and for what?


GOD put us here to sin and make mistakes and learn by trial and error!
how could something we are born with, supposedly, be such a hindrance to a peaceful happy death (passage to the other side)?????

i went to church when i was a kid - my mom made me.
i got baptized at the age of 7, of my own volition and accord, and somehow, i did understand what it meant because after that day, i haven't worried about sin or being a sinner one bit!

not to say that i haven't done things that i shouldn't have - and done things for the wrong reasons, etc.
i have
i will again (alas)

but all along i didn't feel i had to confess or that i should feel guilty - in my mind, GOD was always there with me, anyway, knowing full well exactly what i was doing and how i felt when doing it and the reasons why i did it.

i never felt condemnation or even the slightest rebuke.
i did have stabs at my conscience, which had to be relieved the usual way, often by "coming clean" or facing the music and accepting some sort of punishment from my parents...

and i know i did according to what is meant because these days, GOD is more than ever a real and vibrant force in my life, sending me visions and insights beyond what is otherwise available, and even a miracle now and then - and not just for me but for others, too!

i'm only telling you this so that you might consider my words as possibly true - i'm not one to go about pushing my idea of GOD on other people - i have no concerns with others being able to find GOD because that's up to GOD, not me - but i do feel compelled to try to counteract all the b.s. theology going around in the guise of truth but lacking love or good will - the reason GOD has a bad name is because of those people who claim to know him but in the process, cause other people to doubt or lose interest or worst of all, stop having a willingness toward believing...
believing anything!!

christianity is the #1 cause of atheism!

depends on how one defines "sin".

is a sin a thing that is contrary to laws?

if so, how many mandatory expectations (laws) would i have to comply with in order to live in the house next to yours?

would i live long enough to learn them all?

how many laws, a number please? if a number of laws could be provided, it would help me know how to sin less, wouldn't it?

From a very young age, we're told not to lie, but we're also simultaneously lied to about Santa Clause, or about the pet dog's death. We're similarly told to lie in order to avoid hurting another feelings. All these conflicting messages make it easier to be deceptive later in life.

The average ten minute conversation between two acquaintances will result in several lies per person.
And the fact that everyone lies every day points to the conclusion that untruths are an indivisible part of human nature.

Or, as John says in the next verse after the one I quoted;
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Death in the Old Testament was being away from God....all the people went to a place called Hades,a place away from God because of the Original SIN.
Death in the New Testament is destroyed for all mankind!

1Corinthians 15:56: The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

We being a part of Adam(first man)we also partook of the Original SIN,which is death!

DEATH..in the Old Testament placed ALL mankind away from God(HADES)..This happened to all good and evil people,there was no other choice because Man(Adam)chose to break Gods Commandment!
"When the perishable puts on the imperishable,
and the mortal puts on immortality,
then shall come to pass the saying that is written: 'Death is swallowed up in victory.'" (1 Cor. 15:54)

Jesus Christ defeated DEATH on behalf of us all,yes!
Death of both Body and Soul....will be at the end of the World...a Judgment for all mankind!
What does Scripture say....
Paul says it is the “deliverance of the soul from prison” (2 Cor 5:1-4),
or a “departure” (2Timothy 4:6).
Peter says it is “putting off the body” (2Peter 1:14) and in Acts it is referred to as “sleep” (Acts 13:36).

Paul tells us that there is a judgment after death; “it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” (Heb 9:27).
The Lord Jesus Christ in Scripture (Matt 25:31-46).
On this day there will be accomplished the universal resurrection of the dead in a transfigured appearance.... If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen.
And if Christ is not risen,
then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.
Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise... But now Christ is risen from the dead,

IMO It would be extremely difficult to reach a point where we never sin but I do believe we can reach a point where we want to live for what God has planned for our lives and in doing so, sin less.

When people believe in Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit guides us and helps to move away from our sins. If a person can live completely for and only for the spirit, then I think it may be possible for someone to stop sinning all together.

Personally though, I think the intentions of our hearts, are more important than our sins, because that is what God sees before we act.
