US says sinking of SKorean warship is not terrorism; will not put NKorea back on blacklist

www.foxnews.com

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration said Monday that the sinking of a South Korean warship blamed on North Korea was not terrorism, and not enough by itself to put Pyongyang back on a U.S. terror blacklist.

The State Department said the March sinking of the South Korean frigate Cheonan by a reported torpedo from a North Korean submarine was a "provocative action" and a violation of the truce that ended the Korean war.

But it added that the sinking was the act of one state's military against another and not an act of terrorism. Thus, it is not grounds to put North Korea back o

Reports out of Washington today say the sinking of a South

Korean warship in March by a reported North Korean

submarine torpedo was not considered a act of terrorism.

It was a "provocative action" and a violation of the truce

agreement that paused the Korean war in 1953.

The Armistice was signed July 27, 1953.

The statement from Washington added that the sinking was the

act of one State's military against another and not an act of

terrorism, which would not be grounds to put North Korea back on

the U.S. "state sponsors of terrorism" black list as some on the

South Korean side wanted.

North Korea was removed from this list in 2008.

A ship is sank and it's not terrorism.

I order a vegetarian meal on a flight and my passport gets flagged. Neat.

Besides the lack of evidence it was North Korea, the two sides are still technically at war. IF one military attacked the other military, it is not terrorism.

The United States Department of Defense defines terrorism as “the calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological.” Within this definition, there are three key elements—violence, fear, and intimidation—and each element produces terror in its victims. The FBI uses this: "Terrorism is the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives." The U.S. Department of State defines "terrorism" to be "premeditated politically-motivated violence perpetrated against non-combatant targets by sub-national groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience.

Funny, because they were taken off the terror list after they were suspected of building a nuclear reactor in Syria. You all might remember Israel bombed the nuclear site and the Syrians quickly bulldozed the remains.

heh, even if Obama did put NK on some blacklist, so what?
would he write Kim Jong Il an angry letter, telling him how angry he is?

plus, weren't there some speculations that SK ship actually fired first into northern waters and NK just returned fire? i didn't really follow this much, but what happened to those claims?

either way, as one of the posters above said, the two countries have been at war since 1950 and the war never really ended, i'm actually surprised there haven't been many more incidents like this.

False Flag, so something else must have happened hidden behind doors.

Now that things are moving with Iran, NK can be put on the shelf for a later war. New evidence will come out, but only when TPTB need it.

Since this was not an act of terrorism, but a violation of the truce agreement between the two countries,

I wonder if there will be consequences? Since the U.S. and SK, along with a few other countries are pretty certain it was NK that fired a torpedo and sank the SK warship.
