Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen says an underwater robot bumped into the venting system. That sent gas rising through vent that carries warm water down to prevent ice-like crystals from forming in the cap.

Holy crap!

Soooo what's the flow rate now? More than 100k bpd???

wow. if you look at the feed its obvious the cap is off. looks like the threads asking if the top was gone are correct. its missing boys. now we just have a powerful stream of oil shooting right into the ocean! even stronger than before! thumbs up to BP huh?

Yikes is right. I posted in the other forum that RawStory used a BAD word in their headline about this. See?

I guess the flow is exceeding even their highest estimates now.

Here's that calculator thingy at PBS. Clicky

Yeah your post tipped me off!

Figured it could use a thread though regarding the event...

I'm completely stunned... Do you notice how fast the "sea snow" is flying by now? It's nuts...

so much oil.... so much oil

So basically if it has been leaking at 100k bpd since the get go we are at ~239 Million gallons already leaked out....

But this flow here.... It honestly looks like it's at least twice what it was before the cap came off...

And... has anyone every really stated what all that yellow stuff is? Surely that's not dispersants...

That calc is obviously way off and is just based on the low end estimates. It might be kinda accurate if it was barrels instead of gallons, you can tell just by looking at the flow the ticker is not going up as fast as it should...

You can move the estimate... and it will change the flow rate...

Play with it a bit... it's pretty much on point... it just defaults at an early esitmate... but you can change it
